no good news, I'm afraid. Last night was worse than ever. He went to bed at 7 as usual, screamed at 9.30, as usual, then went back to sleep until just before midnight. It was DP's turn to camp out, and he was so fed up with trying to resettle Aadi between midnight and 3am that he just let him scream from 3am onwards. Our neighbours must hate us. I hate us! Anyway, after a while I couldn't take the screaming anymore, and I don't know how DP was handling it being right next to Aadi the whole time. I went in and got Aadi out of the cot, changed his nappy and gave him a small dose of Pain Stop. I then brought him in to my bed and gave him a feed to try and calm him down and get him to stop screaming for a minute. He had a feed then kept screaming and kicking me for another hour before finally going off to sleep at 5.45. He slept until 7.15...
So after breakfast and playtime, he starts getting tired as usual around 9.30, so I try to put him down for a nap, but he just wanted to feed and suck and suck and wouldn't go to sleep. After half an hour of mucking around I had enough, put him in his cot and left him to scream while I had breakfast and vacuumed to drown out the horrible noise. I got him up out at 11 and tried to calm him down again. He just wouldn't be held, but kept screaming at me if I put him down and trying to climb up my legs. He calmed down enough to try lunch, but spat it everywhere and screamed at me some more while I cleaned everything up. I have just now managed to feed him off to sleep at 1, and I tell you, my back is breaking from the weight of this feeling, and my heart is breaking from all this screaming and the fact that nothing I do is helping this boy sleep. DP tells me to take him out for a walk but I am too tired to push the monster in the pram, let alone put shoes/hat/scarf/gloves/coat on both of us right now. It's sunny but freezing.

Hi All,

Just a quick one, as I'm ready for bed now.

I did my first day back at work today, though didn't really do much as my access to everything didn't update by lunch time as expected and after a few phone calls it turns out it is overnight...so I just hung back and watched others. It felt strange being part time though, I felt like I was running late in the morning and then sneaking off early in the arvo.

We had some professional photos done the other weekend (they were ready to see today) that was organised by the childcare centre - it was a charity thing, where we got 1 photo in a frame for $15...well when we we're there, the photographer also took othe shots and we had the choice of buying or not. Well of course once you see them you can't refuse, so we bought the set - $199 all up. But I think it was worth it...I hope. (not sure what the cost of professional photos should cost).

Cam's good...didn't sleep to well at kindy today though, apparently another kid woke all of them up after 20mins, poor carer - so he was a little grumpy tonight - but boy I missed him today, so I didn't mind the grumbles at all.

Somebody asked how long our bubs sleep.... well I'm sorry to say that Cam is also another good sleeper...we put him down about 7.30pm, and he wakes about 6.30am (give or take 30mins). Though he lately he has stirred about 3 and 4am (sometimes needs a little settling) but usually goes back down til the 6.30am.

Also regarding the flu vaccination...no i won't get Cam done. I would never get it done myself - kinda had a bad experience with it - my Nana had a flu shot - was as healthy as she could be at the time, a few days later got the flu...turned to broncitis (sp), turned into pneuomia (sp) and within 2weeks she was gone - this was back in 1996 - but I still can't bring myself to have it done myself.

Well that's all from me for now, sorry I don't have time for personals.

Bye for now,

Post My princess is not gaining

Most of the babies are not sleeping well. I must be blessed. But she woke up at 5:15am this morning, she has done that for the past few days which is fine by me.

Ladies I am worried. DD weighs 8.6kg. I had her weighed yesterday and it is a shock and disappointment for me because her weight has not increased. At 6-7 months she was 8.2kg. She is 11 months now. I am sick of hearing new CHN saying she looks great and the OB yesterday saying I was worrying for nothing because she is well-cared for, loved and nurtured and is happy. That's not the point! She hasn't gained! Not much anyways. Obviously I am not going to compare DD to other babies here but I am wondering if other bubs are like her; not gaining much. I miss my old OB and CHN

Bec -

Am jealous. I will be getting our professional photos after my exam. The OB advised against DD having the flu vaccination. But I went ahead and had it done myself. I can't afford to be sick now or anytime from next month. I always wanted to get vaccinated but didn't bother. I had to explain to him it wasn't I feared the swine flu, Lol. By the way, it sounded like you were relaxing at work on your first day back.

Nana -

You must be stuck at home. Melbourne is too cold to go anywhere especially yesterday. It was the coldest I heard. My sisters, cousins, etc are always complaining about the weather and how cold it is. I would give anything to live in Melbourne and its weather. Love it! It's always above 23 degrees here and average 25. So its fairly warm but am wearing a jacket now because its windy and cold but the sun is out at least.

where did Destiny-22 go?? Do we have an impostor? LOL!
Seriously, don't stress about Yasmeenia's weight. That sounds healthy to me, and obviously to your healthcare professionals too. Babies' weight tends to plateau a bit, and I'd be happy to carry around an 8kg baby as opposed to my 10kg+ bag of jumping beans!
yep, Melbourne is icy cold right now, and Aadi's got a cold too. Started coughing and getting snotty as soon as DP got home this afternoon. I made him come home early because I've been sick all day too, but with an upset tummy. I hope that Aadi getting sick is the reason behind his Night From Hell on Wednesday. He's tucked up in bed now with the vapouriser and heater on, an hour earlier than normal. Poor kid...

Sassy - woot! I don't have you on facebook, add me? I wanna see!!

Bec - so glad you went ok with your first day back at work! I hope it was made a bit easier having taken Cam to childcare a few times beforehand, so you weren't stressing about that too much.

We had a MCHN come visit us at home yesterday. She was nice enough, but I find it frustrating that she suggested I get some counselling for myself. First, I'm not in need of counselling. I'm totally over telling my boy's story to every other "professional" only for them to try and turn it into my problem, and make out that I'm depressed. It's so blatantly obvious that I'm exhausted and frustrated, and tired of talking about it to people who can't help. I need help for my son so we can all get some rest. If someone cant help me, I'm just not interested. A counsellor isn't going to come to our house and resettle Aadi at 8.30, 9.30, 10.30, 1.30, 3.30, 5.30 so I can get the sleep I need and help break his waking habit. Secondly, who's going to take care of Aadi if I ever did go to counselling??
Anyhoo, vent over... she is supposedly going to organise for a community paed to check over Aadi for any other health issues that my current paed hasn't really done, and also chase up the Allied Health support that my GP was supposed to organise last month.
I'm a bit cynical, hey?
My tummy hurts. I'm going to bed now...

Nana -

Lol@imposer. Destiny doesn't suit me. I am back to the old nickname. I spoke to one of DD's carers from daycare. She admitted that DD did look smaller compared to babies her age. I asked her how old DD looks? She said 10 months. What concerns me the most is the fact that she has not gained much. I do understand rapid weight gain slows down when babies grow bigger but surely not this slow? I can't help but feel like a bad mother. The carer, such a lovely and honest girl, said DD does eat well at daycare. I would believe that because she does the same when she is at home. Nana - I don't want to ever hearing comments like "your baby is skinny", not that I have. I just don't know what to do. I think I am going to call my old OB and CHN and see what they say. I feel very comfortable with them and love them both. They are great people and health professions. Get well soon and your DS.

Oh Bec. I totally missed that. I understand where you are coming from. I told my sister who is a scientist that I got the flu vaccination, she advised against and so did some doctors she knows. Thanks goodness, I didn't get DD vaccinated. I wish I hadn't either. I have a bruised arm now.

nana: bec helped me add u to face book. my SIL had PND and used to have a councilor (sp?) come to her place but it was more so SIL could do some house work and have a bit of me time and the councilor would help out with the kids maybe u coudl look into that kind of thing. oh or the next person that tells u nothign is wrong u can make then have bub for the night then get them to tell u nothign is wrong lol.

girl: gald ur back to girl lol.

bec: depending on wat size photos and how many u got it still sounds liek a good deal most of them r like 200 for 2 or 3 photos. My SIL get pro photos done of the boys every few months she woudl of spent thousands, th oldest is 5 so as u can imagine 200 every 3 to 4 months is a fair bit and that is the cheapest i know she has paid up to 400 for some. C-R-A-Z-Y !!!!!!!!!!!!!! sounds liek ur first day back was very cruisy.

we went shopping today and i dont knwo who was more annoying jayda or my mum. jayda sooked the whole time cause she wanted to be out of the trolly. and my mum always has to point out that she is nanny to eveyrone so every 2nd sentence was oh nanny is here jayda or nanny loves u, do u want nanny to push u etc.

Just a quick one as the kidlet has been up and is now back to bed (OMG!) So im going to be joining him.

Happy Birthday NaNa Hope you have a great day and Aadi is nice to you.

We are having some horrible sleep times atm. He just wont go down without an argument atm and i dont know why as Ive never had to settle him before so im way out of my depth here. No idea how you do this everyday NaNa. Im going insane already.

My mchn did give me a good book which has some good ideas "Safe sleep space", i dunno if it will be of use to you though NaNa as you might have already tried all its suggestions. It does say that with the older babies it can take a while to change their behavior. But the best part of it is, its a no controlled crying book. finally someone who doesnt want me to just abandon him They even have a brief section on co-sleeping

Sassy - I love the tattoo. One word though OUCH!

Well im off to have a mummy nap already hehe. Catch up soon.

Tomorrow he goes to daddy Then i can get this house in order from todays hurricane!

i feel sweful bout complaining but were not getting much sleep lately... DD is just not liking going to bed anymore... ever since the Formula change... (my own stupid fault) But no where near as bad as some of you... (just added to let you all know i am back here withyou)

NaNa- Happy Birthday Hun, Hope ur little monster bebe slept a little... I agree with Abb- maybe a fre adjustments will help?? Might actually book DD in- she is back to bad wind pains at night and is a bit reflux again. (think thats why were having sleep issues)

Tracy- Hope u can sort stanks out too...
Its really hard when u have a child that is difficult in some particular area. like for sleeping its controlled crying or ........... what... there is no choice for mums. it sucks... Same as feeding... BF there is support... formula feeding difficulties u either speakl with thr brand hotline or figure it out on ur own... It sucks... Then for behaviour issues... it used to be medicate medicate... Now i cant even get my DS seen too... I feel both ur pain.... It is the most aweful thing to need help in your own way of parenting and get nothing cos what u want to do (or should i say dont want to do) isnt the norm... I really hope that we can all get result with our DS's soon... On the ADD/ADHD note MY DP had ADD as a child and we were told it wasnt hereditary but since have heard that it is (or can be) we usually never talk about DP having it... he gets embarressed. i think he p[arenting skills stem from his feelinga about it... i think ddeep down he blames himself and by not addmitting it to himself he is trying to discipline DS too much.

But back to our almost 1 yr olds... Tiahna is walking so well now. i just wish her hair would grow as fast as she is... still not much hair but she is starting to talk more now... she says what sounds like Hi or hello and love you... but only cos when we say it to her to tries to repeat... so we can tell she is trying and meaning to say them... she also sais Ahhhh for Ta and similar for Up... LOL. But she uses the sounds at all the right times so i guess its a start... she also hads little covo's where we talk and she answers... LOL. usually esss (yes)

Oh crap... BBL for more personals... DD just popped and it smells bad

Im sorry that you're back to no sleep land with us Jess!

DS does uk for up now. Who taught the clingy child that one! I wish we would have a yes conversation all I get is no, and sometimes he actually means it, usually round feeding time.

We are no closer to walking, how cute must it be to see your little ones tke off. Im not in a great rush as my house is not toddler proof but still it would be nice if he had've learnt something useful and not to climb the lounge. Nice one Daddy!

I hope that DP can offer you some support and help with DS Jess. I know how hard you've been trying to get him back on track

Well im off to changeover. Ive never wanted it more in my life than this morning. How horrible do I sound. BBL
