Aaw Tanya I'm so sorry you're feeling so crap. And you are NOT letting anyone down, don't beat yourself up. It sounds like you're doing the best you can in a tough situation. It's so annoying when you can't get specialist appts quickly too isn't it. Sending you good vibes and really really hope you feel better soon. And please let me know if I can do anything to help. Thanks heaps for the b'day wishes too!
Can't believe X is 1 tomorrow, gosh a year has gone by... I'm glad I'm not in labour today hahaha. SamiH lol just cos I was on that bl**dy drip vomiting my heart out... pain, what pain? ah well at least he came out ok and it wasn't TOO long all things considered. GL cooking the cake. X is getting icecream cake, he's lousy with solids so figured I'd go for something he can at least swallow. Bonus is that I don't have to make it!
Georgi - you should come join the weightloss thread -theyr'e a great bunch. I've just cancelled my WW online and signed up for CK (free woo hoo). My loss has slowed down a bit, but I'm back in most of my work clothes thank goodness. Wouldn't mind losing a bit more, but I'm not too fussed.
Gotta run, sorry haven't time for more personals. Had my parents here visiting, so X "opened" some presents today (they flew out this arvo) so that was fun. I must be crazy tho, party on Sunday & first day at work on Monday. Ah well, should be crazy but fun.

Firstly wanted to say a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO X & Z from Ava & I!
Hope you have a wonderful day and get spoilt rotten!
*Tanya* - my thoughts are with you every day and i hope the you can make M's birthday, i am sure you will find the strength. You are not letting anyone down at all, please remember to try and stay positive!
I can't imagine what your going through but if you ever need anything please as i have said before let me know, we are all here if you need us.
SamiH - hope the cake went well, i think Ava would look cute walking for her birthday, would make it easier for her to chase the other kids around, we will be outside and the fun is going to be on the grass and in the paddock so any NICE outfit is going to have to be changed into something that can be ruined so she can crawl around... lol
Can anyone tell if there is a list of our groups birthdays anywhere?
If not please feel free to PM me both yours and your gorgeous Bubba's and i will put a post on here, or even a link to a blog and then we can keep up to date.
I have a shocking memory being PG and don't want to miss anyone!
Hope everyone is well!
AFM - Ava seems almost 100% better, we went for a catch-up with a friend yesterday and she ate 1.5 pancakes (adult size too) then we went and took some pics at our block.. on FB if you want to see them.. hehe
Having a day at home today before we go to a GF BBQ tomorrow then it's finally the lead up to the big party.. sooo much to organise!
Got these cute little butterfly deco's yesterday from the cheap shop $2 each and some butterfly window stickers aswell, Ohhh i can't wait for her to see the lounge the morning of her birthday then we are reusing the deco's for her sat party!

BELFIE What is CK? Where would I find the weight loss thread? I might join in but I only have a couple of kilos left, but then again, I might decide to lose a couple more after that. Hmmmm, I'll have to see. How was X's birthday? It's such an exciting time hey. Did you make him a cake? You guys are probably thinking of TTC soon yeah? Or have you started trying? We're still sticking with Jan next year. I want to be sure there's at least 2 years between them
AMANDA Hope your party of 5 are doing fine... Are you getting clucky again?
AVASMUM Hmmmm, girls names.... I like Zali, Indi, Phoebe, Charlotte (Charlie), Tabitha, but our current pic is Kirra (Byron & Kirra, ha ha ha, a bit sad hey). I think the fairy garden cake sounds good. The butterflies sound very cute too. That's the good thing with girls, there's so much cute stuff. I need to find you on FB. Or you can find me off one of the other girls. My full name is Georgina Wrigley.
AMY Hey! Hope you're well
CSAB If you're stalking.... Hi! Big kisses to V from us
SAMI I bet you had a great time on Sat. The cake looked great. I bet it tasted great too. Yummmmm. I don't know how I missed Zander's blonde hair. I should check out the pics more often
TANYA I hope this specialist can sort you out. How awful for you. Big hugs hun, I can't imagine how terrible it must be to have these attacks
As some of you have seen, BJ is cutting 2 teeth at the bottom. He's only had these 4 for months & months so finally the others are coming. He's been waking every morning with really bad poops, that have leaked through the nappy. Then, throughout the day too. I've had to go & buy huggies (we had been using aldi brand). Yuky.... Though this morning had woke without any poop. So hopefully that'll be the end of that.
He's waking up early now that the sun is up earlier. Boo hoo... 6am. So i'm gonna start putting him to bed at 6.30 instead of 7pm. But it means I need to get to bed earlier too!
Have a great Sunday xx

we've just started a new one, but look at the old one for an idea. It's great to chat to others. CK is Calorie King. I was doing WW online, but it costs... CK in Aus is free, woo hoo, so I've swapped over.
X's birthday was good, and we have the party today, , I'm so excited. We've keeping it semi-low key, cos i start back at work tomorrow. I can't believe today is my last official day of maternity leave, way to finish it with a bang hey! Re X, I've got him an icecream cake, cos a) he can't have egg anyway and b) he HATES finger foods (will not try anything ). We haven't started trying to TTC yet.... but we're not NOT trying next month then properly trying in Nov! Very exciting/crazy! I've finally managed to start weaning - was taking me ages to get my supply down, I've got it down to one pump a day (10 mins max) so that's doable thank goodness, and I imagine I'll be fully stopped by the end of the week
Love your names too! One of DH's fave names is Kirra. Ok better go start doing some party prep.
Have a great day everyone.
Oh and SamiH, your Z is a right little spunk!

Hi girls. I'm actually feeling a bit better (as of Friday) so I'm praying that maybe I am getting better now. Anyway, still not there yet but haven't had an attack since Thursday, so fingers crossed I'm on the mend. belfie - Wow back to work tomorrow! I didn't realise you were going back to work straight after X turned one. You prob did mention it but I just don't remember. All the best for tomorrow. Enjoy your time out. And have fun at X's bday today. Can't wait to see pics. Georgi - No I'm not going to make M's cake. Even without my illness I'm not the most talented in the kitchen, but yeah with my illness it would just been too much stress to try and make it. So I'll have her cake made. I still need to sort that out. I haven't been out of the house except for appointments for 4 weeks now!! So hopefully things will start easing up and I can start getting out to get things for her party sorted. As for the sign language I guess you would already know a lot of signs then. I keep looking some up and then forget how to do them. I think it's just not going to happen here. I hope BJ's at the end of his teething for now. Avasmum - If you go to an old thread of this group you will find a birthdays list. As for names.. how about... ummm.. Maya. Mia was our other choice. We keep joking that we might have two girls Maya and Mia. Sami - Looks like Z's bday was fun. Amanda - I hope you have an illness free run in your house now.
Hello to everyone else. Question: What foods did you/are you serving at your bubba's first birthday parties?

Hi everyone - just a quickie - thanks for checking out my pics of Z's birthday - we did have a great time
Tanya - food - over the years I have tried healthy options, fruit and just about everything. This time of year, people are probably not as inclined to nibble on fruit because of the seasonal issues - but this is what I served yesterday: Savoury
Steamed mini dim sims - 15 mins in the steamer - easy - served 30 - all were gone
I made 3 doz sausage rolls and they went fast
Little boy frankfurts - always a winner - I got 1kg - gone
2 kgs of marinated chicken wings cooked in the oven
6 rounds of sandwiches - half ham, half cheese - cut into triangles of course Sweet
Fairy bread of course - depending on the age of your kids - all gone - always a winner
Milky way cars - mini milky ways - mix up a bit of icing and put a tiny teddy in the drivers seat - and put smartie wheels on them - they are really cute! Pakcet of 18 mini milky ways - we had 3 left over
Chips
Snakes
Honey joys (pretty much untouched!)
Sweet dip with lattice biscuit and fruit - sour cream, brown sugar and kahlua overnight in fridge together - then mix the next mornig - is yum!
We had around 30 people including kids and were left with a few chicken wings - the sandwiches were hardly touched so that is what we had toasted for dinner last night! But pretty much the rest went!
Hope that helps in some way.
I am finding it hard to get everything done at the moment so am only dropping by and posting rarely - DH still travelling heaps and now is school hols and he will be home Mon/Tues with DS1 - and then away the rest of the week - I think I will be insane in two weeks time
belfie - good luck for work tomorrow - it's really enjoyable catching up with everyone after so long - you probably wont do any work the first few weeks like me hehehehe xxx

Thanks for the list Sami. I'm actually thinking of not having any hot food at all so that I'm not spending my time heating things, but I'm struggling to think of cold finger foods to serve. So far I've come up with sandwiches and cupcakes. I'm thinking maybe sushi too? It'll mainly be adults I need to cater for and not many children at all. Maybe fairy bread is a good idea though.
Well.. I went out of the house for the first time in 4 weeks (not including appointments)! I'm feeling OK and decided to go to the shops to look for an outfit for Maya for her bday. I couldn't decide and ended up buying 3 different outfits. I can return whatever I don't end up using so thought I'd get them all and decide closer to the time. Maybe I should try them on her and post pics here for your opinions.

We had around 40 adults & around 6 other kids (aged 2 to 7) at the party & this is what we had.. Mind you the party started at 2pm so I assumed people would've had lunch before they came
Zuchinni slice
Cheese & jatz & rice cakes with french onion dip
Celery, Carrot sticks & salsa dip
Sausage rolls, party pies & chicken nuggets
Low fat chocolate muffins
Carrot muffins
Home made Rocky road
Milk arrowroot biscuits
4 different chip flavours
Birthday cake
White & Red wine, beer, soft drinks & water
Pretty much everything was eaten. I made 2 dozen muffins of each flavour & sent the uneaten ones home with people, and lollie bags too. We ran out of beer & wine & had to get more.

Today I'm using up the last of my EBM. I'm feeling a bit sad about it actually. It's the last of my milk M will ever have. (It didn't last this long I just found it easier to make up the formulas than to defrost BM but I realised I needed to use it before it gets too late).
I still give M her milk before food. Should I be turning this around now that she's practically 12 months?
Also I have some probably stupid questions (but if I can't ask it here where can I ask it ) So M is finally getting some teeth and I realised I have to brush them right? Do you brush your babies teeth? When do I start using toothpaste? And when do you take them to a dentist for the first time?

dentist not until they can keep their mouth open for inspection and can understand simple instructions.
as for brushing teeth...we brush Jacks teeth but you generallly start off by rubbing their teeth with a wet face washer that is what was recommended to me by a paediatric dentist
Jack has no strict routine with food/bottles....BUT this is how it is going at the moment,.....
8am bottle
8.30am breakkie
12ish lunch
12.30/1.00/1.30 bottle
5.00/5.30pm dinner
6.00/6.15 bottle
quick update on us....
Jack has been walking for weeks now...and is into everything... fun fun fun
We now have 8 teeth
Saying soo many words it's not funny (such a little parrot)
sick AGAIN!!!! been to hospital for 1/2 a day on sunday...
Having ventolin 3 times a day and on AB's he has brochiolitis AGAIN....more than likely (99% sure) that he will end up asthmatic another one to add to my asthmatic children collection

TANYA I have been giving BJ solids before milk since 9months old (corrected). I would definately do it from 12months, for sure. Alot of people still give milk first, first thing in the morning, but I don't. BJ isn't that into his milk. I'm dropping him to only 2 sippy cups a day now (I'll be getting rid of his bottles now), and he's on cow's milk now too. He is such a good eater that he doesn't need formula. His diet is sooooo healthy & varied. The only problem is that he is pooping 5 times a day lol. So I know he's definately getting enough food
As for brushing his teeth.... We were given a pack of 3 toothbrushes for babies. It has different brushes for different amounts of teeth. We are still on the first brush as it's for 2 - 4 teeth (though that'll be changing now he has 2 more coming through). I saw them in Big W for about $10. Though as fluff said, you can just use a wet face washer. I brush his teeth first, then give it to him to do to brush himself so he learns. He brushes them straight after his bath at night.
Toothpaste is not needed until they are old enough to spit it out. Generally from 3yrs + We were also recommended to brush our kids teeth till they are 6 yrs + (This is from the clinic talks we went to). From memory, they told us they don't need to see the dentist till 2yrs + HTH

Hi everyone, have been MIA lately but have been trying to read and keep up... will be a big post catching up today
Georgi - i hadn't thought of the arrowroot biscuits but might put some out for the lil ones, thats a great idea.. Ava loves them.
How did you swap BJ to the milk?
Ava's routine is now as follows, what would ladies suggest:
7 - 7:30am - breakfast
8:30 - bottle
12:00 - lunch with water
2:00 - snack
2:30 - bottle
4 - 4:30 might have another small snack
6:00 - tea
7:00 - bottle
She would seriously eat all day if i left food out for her, she loves fresh fruit and cheese, her snacks are normally a cruskit or watermelon etc.
The little pig had a slice of bread, watermelon, grapes, cheese and cucumber for lunch yesterday!
I am just trying to figure out how to swap her from formula to milk etc, she gets PLENTY of dairy with cheese and yoghurt etc.
fluff-a-holic - go Jack i can't wait til Ava is walking, think it will look very cute..
Poor little man though, is he feeling any better? i hope he is, i am finally glad to say Ava seems 100% better but her cheeks are going red and she's getting a red bum so i think her teeth are moving again...
*Tanya* - I have started turning Ava round to bottle AFTER solids, give it an hour b/w each if you can so her food can settle and then she will take as much of the bottle as she needs!
I bought Ava a baby toothbrush and we both sit in the bathroom and brush together, she loves it, i bought the baby milk toothpaste but don't really use it, she sees em put some on mine so i wipe the tiniest amount on hers so she thinks she has something.. strangely enough she knows the difference b/w when it is and is not there and holds it out for me... cheeky girl!
Hope i haven't missed anyone, have to get a move on as i can SMELL Ava waiting for me to change her... lol
Well AFM as i mentioned Ava is a lot better but i think her teeth are on the move again so no more sleep again i think... :-(
Stupid house is costing us more due to stupid trees... $11,000 more to be precise as we need to build a tree root barrier, i could
Plans for Ava's birthday are coming along... OMG my little girl is nearly ONE!
So much to do and so little time!
Once her birthday is over we will be clamping down on money and i'm sure it's going to make DP a very grumpy person to deal with, he will start stressing and working his butt off then whinging to me about DTD and other crap... hmmm oh the joys.
#2 is making me fat but has been well behaved, i keep thinking the 27th December which would put me around 2 wks early... hmmmmmm let's hope not, still gotta look at selling my car and a pram and OMG all sorts... lol
well hope everyone is well, sorry for the garbled mumbo jumbo...
Hope all are well, who's birthday is next?

AVASMUM No trick to swapping to cows milk, just put it in a sippy cup & gave it to him. I started giving his afternoon bottle in a sippy cup with cows milk, for about 5 days, then put cows milk in his bottles and Viola! He drinks more of the cows milk than he did with the formula. I guess it's not as thick, and tastes much much nicer

Only prob i have is Ava wont take sippy cups, she drinks water from a cup with a straw or from my cup (cheeky ****) maybe she will be different with Milk.. guess will have to give it go.
So did you mix part milk, part bottle at the start?
