Smile Adelaide Mums - Looking for Support & Continuity of Care?

Hello to all of you mum's-to-be!

Firstly, congratulations to you all! I hope this special time in your life is as exciting and fullfilling as it should be!

I am a Midwifery student at Flinders Univeristy in Adelaide and I would like to take this opportunity to let you all know that if you are thinking about sharing your pregnancy and birth with a student, there are many things a student can offer.

Being involved with a woman's pregnancy and birth experience is of great benefit to students, as it gives them the opportunity to understand more about the antenatal, labour and postnatal periods. It also broadens their understanding of what midwifery is about and how they can better work.

At the same time, students can offer women a great deal of support throughout all stages of pregnancy, birth and the first few weeks with a new baby - all under the direct supervision of a Registered Midwife.

Through the development of a one-to-one relationship, students also provide continuity of care and a familiar face, which is often important to women particularly during labour.

If you are considering sharing this special time with a Midwifery student or would like to know more about what is involved, feel free to email me at godd0022@flinders.edu.au.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this post.

Kristen
