Twins or More Just when we thought having one baby was tricky enough, mums to multiples often have extra challenges with two or more babies of the same age. If you are a mum to twins or more, this is where you can exchange experiences and support with others.

Question Twins? Just a feeling or more of a wanting?

Hello!

I'm very early on into my third pg, and couldn't be happier!
I have a 19 month old son and have an inkling that I may have twins...
The idea of twins sounds so fantastic, but I'm wondering whether it's more of a want or whether there may actually be something to this?

I'm yet to have any m/s (which is lovely), but I've been feeling a lot more tired a lot earlier on this time around - I'm eating everything in sight (which is seriously not good... I had tuna mornay for lunch but then had the urge to eat a WHOLE 250g packet of Ritz biscuits ... twins or just an overeater?? ) and I'm feeling really bloated (I'm finding I can't sleep on my belly at night because it's so uncomfortable, also I can't hunch when I'm sitting down as it's also too uncomfortable).

Could these be symptoms of twins? I haven't had my hCG levels tested as my Dr doesn't think it's necessary. I'm booked in for the 11th Feb for my first antenatal visit (sooooo far away!!).

What were your initial feelings/ symptoms of having twins?

Thanks for your help lovely mummas!

xx

Hi congrats on your pregnancy!

I am at 11 weeks with twins, and can tell you that I had overwhelming tiredness and Morning sickness like you wouldn't believe!! With my first born, I had no symptoms what so ever and bloomed all the way through, but with these two in my belly, I have been nothing but sick! I have been totally off my food, and my mouth felt like I'd been sucking a duracell battery, I totally went off tea and coffee and drank water like a fish.

The symptoms are starting to ease now thank goodness. When I had my first visit to the doctor, she gave me another preg test and she said it was showing verrry strongly that I was pregga's. So I'm guessing you get a double dose of preg hormones with twins.

Good luck with your first scan, and let me know if it's twinnys!

Thanks Kezzabird
And congrats on your twin pg! Have you had a history of twins in your family?
I hear the statistics raise when the women are older also...
Glad to hear that your m/s is easing, m/s is not fun
I'll keep you posted!
Take care.

Well I am 36 so I guess I am pretty old for having kids. But there are about 4 sets of twins on my other half's mums side of the family. So I guess with those in mind it was inevitable

When I was pregnant with my twins I was really sick. from about 4 weeks until about 18 weeks, but because I was so sick I barely ate anything. It is funny but before I fell pregnant with the twins I always had this feeling in my heart that I would one day have twins, I don't know why. Sounds a little silly but I guess it was just meant to be.

Other than the sickness I started to show really early. I had a belly by 9 weeks

Good luck when you go for your appointment.

Hi,
I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick that I was rushed to hospital. I lost 7kg in 7 days I could'nt keep anything down and the toilet bowl was my best friend. That's how I found out that I was having twins. We couldn't believe it as this made 5 children.

HI! i am currently 15 weeks with twins and from about week 6, i was super sick every day, i could barely get out of bed and i would just snooze all day and all night. this was till a few weeks ago, i still get the odd queasiness and random vomiting, but my tiredness is still going strong, yet i am lucky if i can sleep through the night, if the crazy dreams dont freak me out! i was showing at about 9-10 weeks and im massive now!

the funny thing is this is my first pregnancy, and i had always hoped i could have twins, and pretty much from the beginning i had a feeling i was having them. fraternal twins run in both my mothers and my partners fathers side, but i am lucky to be having identicals! my partner and i feel like we won the lottery ( when the panic doesnt set in!)!!

does the tiredness ever stop? and did any of you twin mums suffer lots of cramping like period pain?? i get it every day since about 4 weeks!!

Hey Miranda

Yep the tiredness did stop for me at around 18 weeks, try to eat iron and vit c enriched foods that will help you get your energy levels back. And yep I had cramping pain, it's your uterus growing to make room for the bubs, a hot water bot or heat pack will help with the cramping and you are allowed to take ordinary paracetamol in pregnancy too if it's really bad. I also had a lot of trapped wind in the early stages which would probably account for some of the cramping too.

Congrats to you on the identicals, I'm having identicals too, will you be finding out their sex? This is my second pregnancy, we already have a 5 year old boy and are delighted to be having girls, I was very emotional when the sonographer told me, I couldn't believe our luck!
