Twins or More Just when we thought having one baby was tricky enough, mums to multiples often have extra challenges with two or more babies of the same age. If you are a mum to twins or more, this is where you can exchange experiences and support with others.

Default Twin Feeding Pillows

Hi Twin Mums,

I'm 24 weeks preggo with identical twins. Just wondering which are the better twin feeding pillows to use?

Thanks for your advice,

Salli

Hi Salli. I recommend that you join the ABA before your twins are born, and if possible attend one of their Breastfeeding Education Classes. That really is the best way to get the information and support you will need. They also have a booklet about Breastfeeding Twins for just $5.

GL with it. I'd love to hear how you are going.

Stress Free Toddler meal times - yep, it can happen!!

When I post in this colour I am moderating, otherwise I am expressing my own opinion.

Hi Salli

I must admit i didn't have much luck with the hospital twin feeding pillow (you had to be a size 6 to use it) however my local MBA had a hire program so at least you could try one first without spending a heap of money. It all depends on if you have a c/sec if its sits comfortably around your tummy.

Good Luck
Shan

I tried a couple of different ones - I bought an Ez2Nurse which was recommended to me by lots of AMBA mums as being the best and tried the hospital one. I hated them both - I was stuffing muslin wraps or blankets down underneath the babies faces to stop them from rolling too far towards me - or the pillow was too high/too low etc etc.
The BEST thing that worked for me was just using my pregnancy body pillow - you know - the big long ones. I just had a cheap K-mart one (to be honest, I didn't even use it when I was pregnant - didn't work for me) and I would sit on the couch or the bed with a pillow or two to support my back. I'd have the big body pillow laying alongside where I was about to sit, just sit down next to it, wrap it around myself and put one baby on each side. I could kind of push the foam into the shape I needed to support my babies properly and was able to feed hands free if I needed to. Yay!
I've spoken to lots of other twin mums who have found the body pillows the best too. Unfortunately they're not so compact if you're thinking of taking them places. But I always used to feed individually when we weren't at home anyway.

Good luck!

ETA: the multiple birth association (AMBA) should have a local club you can join - they hold new and expectant parent evenings in the homes of other members who have young-ish twins so you can get to know other expectant twin mums in your area. Plus they have an online forum which is a wealth of information for anything related to twins.
