Default When Did AF turn up after D&C for miscarriage ?

Hi there
Just wondering if any ladies out there can tell me how long after their D&C did AF turn up as im not sure whats going on with me. I normally have a 28 day cycle but since my D&C for 12wk miscarriage on sept 2nd Ive had nothing did a few POAS and a BFN so don't know where I am.
Just want to get it over with so I can get on with TTC as age is not on my side as I am 44 I have other kids but am worried maybe the menapause is setting in as had a few night sweats ! recently but no signs of AF or ovulation as yet !

Thanks for reading anyway

I have exactly the same question. Had a miscarriage on September 24 and still have no sign of a period and it has been 6 weeks. Again, am waiting for cycle to return so we can try again and am getting more and more nervous for every day that passes without it showing up. Can anyone remember how long it took for it to return?
And crafty, yours has probably returned by now, how long did it take?
At what point do I start making an appointment to see my Ob?
Thanks

K

Hi Kirsten74
Well I am peased to say my cycle seems to be back to normal but its taken 10 wks I had brown discharge on and off for weeks and everytime I thought of making an apt with GP it stopped so I was in limbo for ages. Had what I thought was my first AF 5wks after D&C but not a proper one. Because of my age I was worried I was on the change and started to take a herbal supplement called VITEX which can sort out your cycle if not regular get you back on track well after a week of taking it I had a AF this time proper red lasting for 3 days although lighter than previously never the less an AF, that was 2wks ago and I used OPK sticks this week and got a LH surge so I am now on the TWW so I can't say if the Vitex made a difference or not but I am back to normal after 10wks,
Good luck with your TTC journey, you have to remember with a D&C all the lining is taken away and can take a few mnths to get to a good thickness to enable a AF, saying that though I didn't stop TTC even though I was advised to wait for AF I thought what the hell if its mean't to be so be it !
Hope that helps

I'm so sorry to hear that your little babies have flown away.

I had a D&C for a blighted ovum and four months later there was still no sign of AF for me. I had been doing some random POASs, they were all BFNs. I went back to see my ob who ordered a whole heap of tests and full pelvic ultrasound. One of the tests was for Hcg and it was positive, there was a tiny baby in there. I couldn't believe the timing, if I'd gone a week earlier it would have been too early and nothing would have shown up, if I'd gone a week later I would have been feeling symptoms and known something was happening. And my full pelvic ultrasound turned into a dating scan.

Wishing you all the very best of luck

Rachel.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your angel babies

I had a D&C back in April for a m/c at 8 weeks. My cycle didn't come back in May, and I found out I was pg again in June, but m/c again at 4 weeks, which passed naturally. My normal cycle didn't return until September after that. Sorry if that's not a lot of help to you, I guess every cycle and every woman is different.

Lots of to you, and I'm glad your cycles are finally getting themselves back together

Xx

Thanks for the advice. Crafty, where did you get the herbal supplement? Health FOod shop or a naturopath?
I've been told to wait 2-3 months before TTC. After our first miscarriage we only waited 6 weeks before falling again and it ended in miscarriage as well, so we are going to defiately wait this time! Just a concern that there has been no AF yet, as it has always seemed to come back after a couple of weeks.
How long do you think I should wait before going to see my Ob?
Usually I hate AF, but now I can't wait for it to come back again!
And pumpkin, from your ticker it looks like you are waiting as well. Sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your lossed angels xxx

I had a D & C on Oct 30th 08, for me AF returned 6- 8 weeks later. I was having regular blood tests and found out I had ovulated and didnt know! No changes in mucus or the normal body changes at ovulation. After AF returned my cycle remained at the normal 28 days. I think as has been said it is different for each woman and perhaps what hormone levels are pumping through the body and how long they take to drop.

Sending you all lots and lots of baby dust and I hope your miracles arrive really soon

Lily Dust

Hi Kirsten
Got the VITEX from the health food shop I am taking 1 tablet a day and its been 3wks now and I did O yesterday and I think its the first time since my D&C sept 3rd so I was so pleased, You have to remember I am 44 so can't wait too long for a BFP as my time is ticking a way. I have had 2 kids since I was 40 so am very hopeful I can acheive another pregnancy in the next 12mnths but am willing to try anything to get that, I was told about the Vitex on these forums but if you google it there are hundreds of pages with info I am on the TWW now so I that I have a BFP soon
