We're getting one next month so I'll be able to tell you more then!
We had a look and we should be able to fit our two boy's car seats (Maxi Riders) and a SNS Compaq car seat in there. We'll MAKE them fit if they don't LOL! I'm not sure if a passenger would fit comfortably in the middle. We currently have a Rav4 (2008 model) and I have sat between the boys quite a few times when we've had another passenger. It's a bit squishy, but it's fine. I'm assuming the Kluger will be similar if not more roomy.
Sorry I'm not that much help atm!

We did look at getting one and it was a toss up between that and the captiva. I'm not sure about the three car seats though - friends of ours have one and they have two car seats, but I haven't actually looked inside it to see what the third seat width is like.

Do they come in different models? My friend has one and they have 3 kids under 4, plus her 2 DH's children every second weekend and they all fit in the car together - I thought she told me it was a 7 seater?
I know she has two car seats and a booster seat in it for her girls. I've never actually looked inside but from the outside, it's a really nice car. I wouldn't mind one myself actually but not gonna happen at the moment.

Hi there
we have spent the last 6 weeks looking at cars.
The Kluger has 2 roomy seats and one "half and a bit" seat in the back/middle row. We saw one being delivered which had 2 booster seats set up and IMHO there was not alot of room in the middle, enough for an adult to take a short trip in - as conceded by the dealer, but thats about it. It might be tight for you to get the three in the back I think. More to the point getting access to seat belt points in the case of booster seats might be a real challenge if you had a seat in the middle too.
One of the things worth noting re the third row of seats is that the third row is NOT equipped with anchoring hooks for child restraints.
In light of the new booster seat legislation (ie children up to the age of 4 have to be a forward facing seat and between 4 and & have to be in a booster) you have to discount the use of the third row for children who will need to be anchored restraints.
I think in the class of 7 seater FWDS the Kluger has the most leg room compared to say the Mazda CX 9 (terrible fuel economy), the Ford Territory or the Subaru Tribeca.
As an aside DH I dismissed the Kluger because we personally found the front seats to be extremely uncomfortable, too soft and no lumbar support in the seats at all. We took it back to the dealer within an hour of test driving because we both had back pain!
Good luck
Belinda.

We have a friend with a Kluger, but they don't have kids. We looked at a Kluger when we were looking around for the 2nd car. But I didn't take car seats into consideration, cause I knew we could never afford to buy one.

I'm not sure on the seats - but the middle row is very roomy. If you didn't have huge seats i'm pretty sure they would fit. 3 adults fit comfortably IMO. It seems as wide as a commordore which does fit 3 seats. My parents have one and I LOVE IT! I borrow at every opportunity LOL. I also personally LOVE the comfort of the front seats esp since i've been heavily pg (just another reason to borrow regularly). The tirf row is really only sultable for children (primary school age) but that said - my cousin who is 21 often has to sit back there when we go on family girly outings and she said its fine.

my girlfriend got the dealer to measure.
She has 2x maxiriders and a reversed carseat in hers.
You can have anchor points fitted in the rear row if you wish too.

Thought I'd come back and report now that we have a Kluger! We can easily fit two Maxi Riders and a Safe N Sound Unity Capsule across the back seat (all of them are quite bulky car seats too). A passenger in the middle may be a bit squishy, but we have the 7 seater model anyway, so someone could sit in the very back if they needed too.
It is such a lovely car, it even comes with a reversing camera which is a big bonus with kids |

I haven't got one but I looked at one recently. I needed seats for 5 kids & for me it wasn't roomy enough. I have a friend with 3 kids and her husbands 2 every second weekend. It is too squashy for them.
I got a Kia Carnival and I LOVE it. It is hugely roomy and it has the bonus where you can remove any car seats you don't need. It is easy for kids to get in and out of. It's so easy to strap in babies/little people too. It's lovely to drive also.
Just a thought...
