Default BFP first cycle after miscarriage

Hi, I was hoping to get some advice or hear from anyone who has been through something similar. Last cycle I had a miscarriage at almost 7 weeks, DH and I TTC this cycle and I got a BFP at 15DPO. I had taken a test at around 12 DPO and did see a very very faint line but thought it was my eyes playing tricks on me so ignored it. I have had brown spotting since last Saturday which turned into blood when I wiped on Tuesday. The colour has been really brown to bright red. It is all really mucousy. I have also passed some clots but once again, only when I wipe. I went to the DR and my HCG was only 70 on Wednesday but she said this is still within normal range but it sounds low to me for 4 weeks. I have another BT on Monday to get the results but I am feeling really nervous about all of this. Can this really be happening to me again so soon? Is there any chance at all? This definately isn't a period type bleed but it can't be implantation as it is lasting too long. I have been taking an HPT every day and the line is getting darker, not lighter. The Dr did tell me this means nothing though because the die in the tests isn't uniform etc etc. I also know I can still get a positive HPT after a miscarriage as the hormone is still present. So I am just so confused and this wait is killing me.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or can give an opinion? At this stage I am 80% feeling like this is another mc but 20% hopeful. Honesty is appreciated. Thanks

Regardless of what people say about HPTs I think the majority of them are fairly accurate in showing a getting darker line or a getting fainter line. The fact that your POAS is getting darker is reassuring that your HCG is rising.
As for the bleeding no one wants to see blood when they are pregnant but its not always a sign of bad things and many people do bleed.
I think the BT results will be the best thing to give you an idea of whats happening.
Did you have repeat HCG test after your m/c?
My bleeding sounded similar to yours when I had what I was told was a m/c. It wasn't like a period, very mucousy pink/blood stained and I had tissue bits but not much blood. This went on for 8days. Turns out I had an ectopic pregnancy. I think people who have threatened miscarriages it often is mucousy so the fact its not like a period is a good sign. Is there any pain associated with the bleeding?

Thanks for responding Emmy. Yep, I had a follow up HCG after my mc and it showed a level of 600 and then 4 days later 45. Dr said that this is def a separate pregnancy. I had some light cramping a few days ago but it was not bad and other than that I had a stomach ache as if I had eaten something I shouldn't have. No other pain really. My biggest worry is that it is just lasting so long. I thought to myself if I stopped bleeding by Friday I would stop worrying but that hasn't happened. Thanks for your comment about the HPT, I am really clinging to that because its the only real thing I can do to check what is happening before Monday.

Hi starangelk,
one of the ladies in the PAML thread had massive amounts of heavy clotty bleeding at the beginning of her pregnancy. She is now close to 30 weeks and is having a healthy pregnancy.

Further on the topic of bleeding during pregnancy - my obstetrician was really surprised to learn that I never bleed during pregnancy, she tells me that is very unusual (though just about everyone I know is like that!) and that bleeding during pregnancy is not a problem unless you're rh- which I am. After my first appointment she farewelled me with 'I'll talk to you when you ring up stressed about bleeding!' It still hasn't happened but just hope that this can help to set your mind at ease a little.

Goodluck and I hope all goes well for you this week with your blood work xox

(*sorry, I forgot to turn off my sig and now I don't know how to remove it!*)

ME

I m/c twins at alomst 7 weeks back in March 2007 and found out on the 8th of May (first cycle) that I was pg again. I bleed on and off until 12 weeks, sometimes dark, some times wipe away...it was stressfull but my pg stuck and now I have a beautiful 20 month old little man for it .

I felt exactly the same....i continuously thought I was m/s and it doesnt help with the early pg cramping you get either. I did HPT every day aswell and they got darker and darker...in the end I stopped myself cause I was just driving myself insane with worry.

hon...let me know how you go

Thank you all so much for replying to my thread. I appreciate it more than you can imagine.

Emmy - Thanks for your honesty. This is going to sound very strange but I can't really remember how heavy the bleeding was last month for my mc. I think I have just blocked it out.......not healthy I know! I recall some pain but I am pretty sure the bleeding was heavier than this early on and then eased up to spotting.

Smallfryplus - WOW! I can't believe your OB said that, I had no idea it was THAT common. Thanks so much for telling me, it has really comforted me alot.

Max - I really hope that I end up with the same story as you. What a fabulous story and thank you so much for sharing it with me. I thought I was being silly testing with HPT's and watching the line get darker but I am going to keep doing it until I know that my HCG is going up and it's all good.

Rachel and the lovely Pish - thanks girls for your support. I really need it right now.

Yesterday one of our friends told us they were 8 weeks pregnant. We are both so happy for them but it really stung, just because we soooooo want to be telling them some good news from us too but we are just not in a position to do so. I am having a BT tomorrow but I won't get the results until Tuesday......the waiting is totally killing me but luckily it's been a busy weekend, hopefully the work day speeds by.

Thanks again to you all.

Hi ladies - it's good news from my end. My HCG has increased from 70 last Wednesday afternoon to 541 on Monday morning. I am extremely relieved and happy and basically feeling like this is a miracle. Unfortunately, I am still having spotting/very very light bleeding. The doctor has no explanation for this but she said that at this stage everything is looking "viable" so I am taking that as a positive. I am still feeling very aprehensive but more optimistic.

Thank you all so much for your support, I really do appreciate it.
