Default How old is too old !

Just a quick question here.
All those who have miscarried and had a D&C and are now pregnant again how long before you started trying again and how long did it take you !
Also
How old is too old to try for a baby when you have just miscarried as I have read that when over 40 your eggs are old and not too good anymore is this true .

Anyone out there over 40 and still trying for a baby even though you already have a few kids ? or am I the only one

Hi,

I had 3 pregnancies in 2007 - one of which resulted in my son being born in 2008. I was 42 at the time. No fertility drugs were involved.

Egg quality is generally not too good over 40. That's why women over 40 are more likely to have early losses & to conceive bubs with DS.

I read recently that sperm quality can change after 35 so if your partner is of a similar age then this could cause issues.

The risk for DS for a woman over 35 with a partner of similar age or older is twice that of a woman of 35 or over with a partner who is 24 or under (my ex and I fell into the second category here). These are little known facts but have been found to be true in a number of research projects. Until recently all the blame was being put on older women, but now it's thought older men contribute as well.

The problem is there is no way of knowing if all your eggs are no good or if some of them are perfect. I just hoped that I had one good one left & it turns out I did. I hope you also have one good one left.

it took me and my fiance another year after our miscarrige to conceive the son we had 3 weeks ago. Also yes your eggs are of older quality but it is still possible to have a healthy baby. A patient of mine is pregnant with a healthy baby and she is 47! naturally conceived after 3 miscarriages, so there is still hope.

I'm 40, had DD at 38 and had an early miscarriage at 39.

Despite my "advanced" years I've always got pregnant very easily, though my ob has warned me that it's not the "getting pregnant' that's a problem so much as the staying pregnant.

At my age, I'm going to be sensible - give the natural a red hot go for a few more months (with charting) and then go back to the ob and see what he recommends in terms of testing/IVF etc.

Default Thanks !

Thanks to all of you who have replied to my questions !

Makes me feel so much better knowing all I need is one good egg surley I have one left.
I have a son who is 13mnths but I miscarried before him so I guess I am banking on the same this time. So once again thanks to all who answered. Have been ttc as soon as the bleeding stopped after the D & C 3 weeks ago now my boobs are playing me up tingling think my hormones are still messing me around surely I can't have fallen pregnant again ! took me 12 mnths last time I miscarried to fall again. There are so many emotions that go through your head when the Dr says Im sorry your baby has died just want to feel whole again. Sometimes I think I think too much !

I am 44 and my hubby is also 44 so I guess we both just praying we are not too old just yet !

To all those in a similar position to us GOOD LUCK may god bless us all
