Certainly a common phenomenon - and I think the effect pregnancy can have on regulating hormones can certainly help. The same can be said for couples who spend years TTC naturally, eventually do, and then 6 or so months after giving birth, discover they are pregnant again.
One theory is that couples (chiefly women) going through IVF are so vigilant with their diet and exposure to toxins etc, that they actually eradicate a large portion of toxicity that their bodies were previously holding onto, and hence created a barrier to conception.
This vigilance usually carries through to the pregnancy, and particularly if the woman breastfeeds, this triggers the body to metabolise and release an even greater proportion of toxins (heavy metals, pesticides, personal care chemicals etc) so the body is more 'primed' for natural conception at the end of this experience than it was prior to the TTC journey.
So too do men learn alot about the way various lifestyle and environmental factors effect the health of sperm when going through the IVF process and are more likely to have made various changes which are hospitable to natural conception occuring down the track.

This is abit different but I recently looked after a woman (as a midwife) who has 7 IVF attempts. I think 3 were stim cycles and the rest FET. Well she said she couldn't afford any more and then 12months later fell pregnant naturally. They couldn't believe how it happened (deep discussion with the Obby about it.) It wasn't all smooth sailing she had a stitch in at 26weeks (very scary) and recently gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl at 38weeks.

Well, booger me! I started this post ages ago out of interest and now I get to add myself to it!

Just found out that I am somewhere between 3 weeks, 4 days and 4 weeks, 2 days pregnant, naturally! Obviously things may not go well (I am 41), but I remain full of hope and love that it will.

I had a loss and D/C in August and started to bleed 5 days ago. Thinking this was AF I fronted up and clinic to start my next protocol. They gave me drugs, took blood and sent me off. Later they said I had some HCG in my system and not to use drugs. test yesterday confirmed rising levels! They said the bleeding might be implantation bleeding!

We only DTD once after the D/C (after our anniversary dinner and good wine!) , but have no idea when I O'd, hence the range of poss dates.

Woo.

Congratulations drbeee!

I'm also in the same position - I posted our friends' story above but can now add my own... We've done 6 IUI, 3 IVF and 1 FET in the last 18 months - all BFN. Today I got a BFP on a digi (pictures are on my blog). We haven't even spoken to our IVF clinic since June and all I've done since then was to start acupuncture at the beginning of last cycle.

Our DS2 is our miracle bubs-
Have 'unexplained infertility'- 10 years trying/charting/natropaths/clomid/FS/ temping etc
We did 3 stim cycles and got our twins who were born very prem and it was a harrowing birth full of medical intervention and sick babies afterwards

then did another 4 cycles with no success until we had a missed m/c after a FET at 12 weeks.
My DH then decided that he couldnt go on the IVF rollercoaster anymore so i told him to tell me when he was ready again and would do it then.

Jan that year I started do a/puncture after this and was told that i was fertilizing each month, but lining was not thick enough at the same time for implantation and it would take about 6 months to get happening- finally an answer

June that year he came home and out of the blue said 'Let's do it!" so i rang my clinic and booked in to start next cycle. AF was due the next week and it never came! We got a BFP on our own !!!! I was allready a week pg when DH decided that it was time to try again!!!!!

I ended up with a full term VBAC- so DS2 birth and conception was the most healing thing i have ever been through!!!
so YES miracles can and do happen
