great to hear from you BG!
kelly... i am green with envy over the work situation. hey enjoy your long long weekend!
kaydee thanks so much for your advice. i've decided a compromise is in order. rang the sonographer's office nd there's room enough for FIL to come in. so have told DH his dad can come in for the first 10 minutes to see the bub and then leave by the side door. that way we are all happy... he sees bubs and we get our private time. had to email dh at work so not sure if he's happy with this but sure he would be. like you said kaydee, it does mean a lot to them and i don't want to be awful or anything.
good luck on your GD test tomorrow by the way and hope you get some relief for your back. i've been swimming and that's helping. yay for MISTY and welcome. we all completely understand your nerves about it... but not 3 months... 2 months! i seriously only feels like a last week and i was you! so good luck and positive thoughts coming your way.
hi FG ... i don't think 34 wks is early to finish. plus you can only do what you can do. hope these last few weeks fly by for you. and good on your DH for talking to your boss, what a sweetie! sounds like he's taking good care of you.
jen how'd you go at the obs??? and hope you are feelling better with your back.
hi two mums - i reckon we'll just keep our original date of dec 13 cos from what i've read, they are forever changing it anyway.
murph - how are you going sweet??? i'm praying it went okay for you. remember nothing is set in stone and you have to do what is best for you and DH. please take care of you. ox
afm our NT scan is tomorrow. i'm feeling quiet nervous about it at the moment which i'm sure is just one of those things. i read somewhere that pregnancy is one stress to another - each month a new stress about bubs. have terrible constipation and it's driving me batty... and sore sore boobies that haven't lived up to the "you'll get huge boobs'' rumours I was told. seeing i only had small ones to start feel somewhat jipped but i only want big ones for the novelty me thinks
question: has anyone hired or bought a doppler? is it worth it? I was thinking about buying a stethoscope instead on the recommendation of my gf who is a pharmacist but she said when you can't find the hb cos of bubs position, it can be very stressful. just wondering if its worth the stress???
hi to anyone i've missed and to all our lurkers. big hugs to you all

Hi Grub
I bought a fetal heartbeat monitor. Thought it would be nice for my MIL to hear as she doesn't live close by and you can record the sounds and email.
Unfortunately they generally advise that you can't hear anything until at least 21 weeks and as I have an anterior placenta (on the front) this will block the sound out for even more weeks. So I have put it away for the time being as I don't want to worry about not hearing anything....even though I know the reason why.
It is really a personal thing but it is possible to add even more pressure to an already stressful situation IFKWIM...
Forgot to add one more thing from my earlier post. As of tomorrow (20 weeks) our little bub will be legally recognised as a baby by the Australian Government. I know she is already our baby but until 20 weeks she is not recognised.

Misty, and congratulations on your BFP. The first 12 weeks drag by but as you relax about it all, the weeks do pass much more quickly. Best wishes for a H & H pregnancy!
BG, great to hear from you. Enjoy your time with Emerald now you're at home.
Janie, hope you're doing well and little Jasmine is keeping you busy.
Grub, I'm sure your FIL will be pleased at being able to see his grandson/granddaughter. Glad you were able to compromise! I didn't worry about a doppler because once bubs is moving about, the movements are so continuous that you know everything is fine on the inside. It's hard the time leading up to feeling movements though because you do wonder if all is ok in there. It's a personal choice.
Kelly, yay for 20 weeks!

Good afternoon girls,
Kelly - Im VERY envious of you finishing work already! It looks like financially Im going to have to work right up until I can and I may have to go back to work sooner as well. DP and I have hit a few financial hurdles since falling pg which is very stressful. Enjoy your time at home
BG - Congratulations on the arrival of Emerald Your birth sounded very full on. Enjoy your beautiful bundle of joy and look forward to hearing updates. Take care.
Misty - hello and WELCOME The first 12 weeks seem to drag on as Kaydee mentioned but I found it passed alot quicker than expected. The whole pregnancy for me is FLYING by!!! Lots of great girls in here who can field your questions so dont hesitate to ask.
Grub - hope your scan goes well today. It is a stressful time and wait for the results. Hang in there. I think its a lovely gesture for your FIL to see the bubs at the scan. Its an amazing experience.
Murph - hope your ok. Thinking of you.
Janie - hope all is well with you and Jasmine to everyone else
AFM, have been busily packing up my unit for the move on the 13th. Am off to the Gold Coast tonight for a "work conference"....WOO HOO. Not much "conference work" to be done. Just a dinner tomorrow night and an outing to Mt.Tambourine on Sunday so more leisure than anything!!!! My DP is going too and my boss is paying for both so cant complain Im feeling well. My tummy isnt quite rounded as yet. It just looks like Im FAT! I have large bb's so my tops are loose so you cant really see my tummy. Look forward to when my tummy are bigger than my bb's....hehe
Take care all and enjoy the weekend.
Tania

hi missmapgie... that sounds like a pretty good conference!!! have fun. lol.
i've decided not to go ahead with a doppler or stethoscope as it'll just add stress. thanks for the feed back girls.
kelly D - for 20 weeks!
just got back from out NT scan... ratio was 1:15,000 for downs and 1:30,000 for chromosal abornomalities. and all the bits were there!!! yaya. Due date is still a day out from what we were originally told... dec 14, but i'm keep dec 13 cos i tink it's lucky.
but scan took forever as bub was in the wrong position and even a few walks, several jigs and a coke wouldn't budge it! lol. one last vigorous Elvis gyration and finally we could get the NT measurement! got a 3d video as well but again bub wasn't playing the game.... hands over face, chin on chest. but we were so glad just to see our little one.
what a lovely experience. FIL decidd he didn't want to go anyway after all my stress about it! (doesn't like doctor's surgeries or such). so could have saved myself some worrying but ah well... at least i did the right thing an asked.
hope you are all welll... sorry about the big me post.

Miss Magpie, have a great weekend away.
Grub, Great news on your scan. Glad things sorted themselves out with FIL - It's funny how we stress over some things that turn out to be nothing worth stressing over.
AFM, Gestational diabetes test today. Results will be at next ob appt on Tuesday. Had to skip breakfast because you need to fast for 12 hrs beforehand... I love my brekkie in the mornings and was so glad when I could eat something at 11:30!
Have a great weekend all!

Hi Girls
I hope everyone is having a nice cosy time with winter upon us!! Got my uggies on and time for personals!!
Misty - Congratulations!!!!! I'm so happy you are here with us! This is the most wonderful bunch of girls! One of the best threads I've been on !!
BG - Congrats on the arrival of your beautiful little girl! So happy for you and DH and glad she arrived safely!
Kelly - I'm glad you gave up work, bout time for you and bubs to have a non-stressful time huh? My sister is about to arrive from Cairns for about 5 days, have a great visit with your sister!!
Jen - Have you thought about accupuncture for your back pain? They say it can really work miracles! Most accupuncturists know massage therapy as well. Love the scottish names, my old boss had Angus, Dougal and Lachlan!!
Farmgirl - i'm guessing lots of movement means happy healthy baby, there is no reason to think that anything would go wrong now, trust your OB, if there was anything to worry about he would have seen a sign...Your little one is safe and sound! Just keep telling yourself that...I think i will be just like you, its hard to believe that we will finally get a baby out of this huh...but do try to remain positive!! Picture yourself holding your baby and try to think about planning the nursery and nappies and routines and things like that sweetie!!
Kahlan - Yay for finishing work, not long now, how exciting! Glad you have 5 weeks off to prepare and rest!
Murph - I hope things are going great for you! As for the EDD List, we have decided to stick with the due date of 9th Dec as we know when the embies went in huh!!
Grub - Great news about your 12 week scan, those piccies are just wonderful arent they, cant wait to see the 19 week scan. Is it 18 or 19 weeks that you go for the next scan?
Kaydee - Pack those hospital bags!! Not long now! Good luck with the GD test~!
MissMagpie - Know just what you mean about the belly thing, i think it will be about 22 weeks before kim gets the pregnant belly, she had a little belly to start off with so, but cant wait for her to pop!!
Big Hi to eveyone else
Well my sister is arriving from Cairns today for a visit for 5 days and i have monday and tuesday off so we can make the most of it. Cant wait to show off all the things we have bought and get all clucky with her. Will be fun. Poor kim has to work but she has sunday off so i think we will all get in the car and head up to Caloundra to visit our neice who has a 3 month old little boy named Cooper. My sister hasnt met him yet. He is so cute!! Hope everyone has a great long weekend!!

Sorry girls,
this will be a me post but I have so much to catch up with that I have missed since doing my ostrich routine (head in the sand iykwim)for the past month or so.
I finally got to the hospital for my next amnio appointment, after the ferry got bogged and I missed the last one, and the first thing we saw was streets closed all around the hosp. with police cordons, firies and rescue people blocking areas and DH nearly had an adrenaline overload. He thought if there was some nutter holding up the hospital with a baseball bat, he would go in there and sort him out himself. I had already begun thinking of the belly belly post to let you know this time the hospital was closed and I missed the appt again. Anyway, it turned out to be no big deal.
I had the amnio...I was meant to squeeze DHs hand and avoid the pain but I felt nothing, my head was in another space and I wasn't even watching anything going on with my body. It was easy and painless..but then the next blow was delivered..."you will get your results in 3 weeks". what the???? I nearly fell on the floor after being told by every other doctor that it would be 48hrs. It turned out that he wouldn't make a termination based on prelim results so didn't want to give them to me...I was looking for that damn baseball bat, stuff the calm thoughts!!! I can't believe how cold these specialists can be, good bad or ugly, we just wanted some answers and who the hell said anything about termination you jerk! Arrrrgggh. I fell to pieces after the procedure, the shock and the stress just hit me.
Anyway, I got my way, plus called in some reinforcements and the results were promptly and unexpectedly delivered on Thursday morning (15 years since DH and I met). DH had thought there was no way they would come in the few hours he had to duck into the field for work, so wasn't there when I was given the news so casually over the phone...."everything is fine so you can stop worrying...no Downs Syndrome and no abnormalities in the chromosomes..now do you want to know the sex? OMG I was bowled over, I wasn't expecting any of it and I was alone again just sobbing with relief and happiness. DH came racing home and we spent the day just stunned and stoked with news that we are having a healthy little girl who we have already named Jasmine, she is so real now!!!!!
Thankyou all so much for your thoughts and wishes and I am sorry I haven't been around much but I have just had to get through in my own way with nothing to go on and the waiting has been the worst time of my life. I will get back to the business of supporting you and updating your EDDs now that I am out of limbo. xoxo
