Hi girls,

Sorry , not time for personal as yet.

Has had an event couple of days. When to see OB yesterday and he did an internal and told me I was 2cm dilated already which shocked me since I thought what I was experiencing was Branxton Hicks. Anyway, continued to have contractions but no real pain, only discomfort. It is currently 5 minutes apart and I rang the hospital who told me to hang in there and call back when the pain is more intense. I really hope that I will progress as I am only feel discomfort more than pain. I don't want to end up like yesterday when after one night of sleep all contractions went away. Wish me luck everyone. I really want to go into labour like now!

good to hear your news Saph.

Hope everyone is well

Kahlan

Kahlan I cant believe you are in labour and you still think to make sure I am okay. You must have been a saint in a former life. I have my fingers crossed for you that by the morning you will be holding your lovely baby. My labour started like that more like period pains than anything else and were only 3 minutes apart and 'i didnt even realise. Try and rest and move around and warm showers help. In the end I couldnt get the water hot enough and had to get out because they thought I might give myself third degree burns. Oh this is so exciting.

Ooohh Kahlan, how exciting! Best wishes for the birth of your little one.

Jen, feeling ok.. cold is slowly improving. I worked until 28 weeks even though ob said I would be too tired after 24 weeks to be able to work. I was feeling really well when I finished up work and thought I should've kept working for longer. At around 30 weeks, my back started to play up and I couldn't sit for long periods and would need to lie down. Sleeping at night also became much harder and to roll over was a real effort. A combination of lack of night sleep and back issues, I am grateful I have finished up work and have had the ability to rest when I need to, lie in a bath when I need to... Glad to hear your back and pelvis are on the mend. Physio and AP are obviously working for you. Hope the next 7 or so weeks you've got left at work fly by. for you on setting up the nursery. Once everything starts to be put in it's place, it makes you see what's still needed.

Saph, congrats on your cleaning out progress on your linen cupboard! Little steps deserve rewards like yummy lunches!

Take care all.

Hi girls

I just wanted to wish KAHLAN good luck !!!!! All the best for the birth of your baby, we are all waiting to hear how you go and to welcome your little one.

There are so many of us in here at the moment, and therefore difficult to do personals, but I am reading up on all of you and cheering from the sidelines.

My back is pretty bad, so I have been up since 1am. I have tried everything form physio to shiatsu with no releif at night - it's ok during the day just a bit stiff. I think I just have to put up with it

Love to all

those are for you neptune, and jen and kaydee - the ladies you are getting so much curry from their backs. I too suffer back pain normally and am now getting inklings of the discomfort that lies ahead so i really really feel for you ladies. i love reading what you find helpful in relieving the pain.

I have found it difficult to sit at work (office worker mostly)... any suggestions? i ditched my chair and stood for awhiel yesterday but that's not a long term solution. was going to take a pillow today to see if that helps. What about using a fit ball at work? anyone done that and have it helped? I sat on my fit ball last night at home and found it really helpful.

sorry this is a bit of a rant all about me. just wanted to have a little whinge and share what's happening here. My lovely DH got a job promo BUT it means he'll be sent away for seven weeks in Oct and NOvember only coming home 2 weeks before bub is due.

we are in defence and i don't know really anyone outside work here so am flying my sister down for a week in november "just in case''. but am feeling really scared and worried about being all alone and going into labour etc. DH will be 7 hours (that's only driving time) away. Is anyone else in a similar situation? How are you coping or planning to cope?

thanks for listening.

Good luck Kahlan!!!!! Can't wait to hear your news.

Grub - I too was having real trouble sitting, and still am to some degree - but have worked up from barely being able to sit at all (like sitting on a sword) to being able to sit now for 25-30 mins before needing a break. Pysio and acupuncture and rest are my key words! Plus I have a gel seat pad from the physio that is wonderful. It's like a big square piece of very heavy gel that softens the chair and helps to more evenly distribute weight. Apparently lots of truckdrivers use them too!

Netune, it's not right that you just have to put up with it. Are you sleeping on your side? lots of pillows propping you into place? I always have a warm bath before I go to bed and use a wheat pack and a hot water bottle too. I also take panadeine if it's really bad. It's more important that your body isn't stressed with pain and lack of sleep. I also have found that the physio exercises really help. Getting up onto my hands and knees takes the weight off and gentle exercises like loweing myself back onto my heels, lifting my knees while I'm standing, bending forward at the waist, small step ups on each leg (using a phone book because I can't quite lift my foot high enough for the actual step!)... Also, pelvic floor exercises!! I do these every day and I think that much of my improvement is down to this as well.

Take care ladies

jenx

Jen that's a good Idea to wait till baby shower, you never know how many goodies you'll get? How many ppl are coming to yours?

Saph My brother and I were both 10lb babies so that's on the cards. It is too hard to give up carbs but I will watch my sugar. I've been counting progesterone too. My last day is MONDAY I'll have heaps left thought think I'll visit the clinic and donate the full bottles.

Mels enjoy your last couple of weeks how long you having off?

Kelly D enjoy your 4D scan, I would love love love one but we're not finding out the sex of the baby so I guess the 4D is out.

Good luck Kahlan my thoughts are with you.

Neptune, Oh that sounds awful, I sleep with a heat pack every night now, I hate to think how bad it's going to get.

Grub and Jenc, I guess I have lots to look forward too I'm good for an hour now but then need to stretch, it's only going to get worse. bugga.

ATM little bit ditsy at work, trying to eat better is stressing me out, I had less breakfust but just got so hungrey before so I had a piece of toast. I'm not good at this. I'm starting to plan my teaching for Friday and Satuday and hoping that everything will be fine.
Have a great day.

KAHLAN!!!! i cant wait til you pop!

greens - i had NO tests for any abnormalities! not even bloods, you are still young! and although your DP is in his 40's its our eggs that cause the downs so therefore he has nothing to do with it! in the end its your choice and its stressful but dont feel bad if you dont decide to do any or only some testing.

grub - i cant sleep either, it gets worse, u will see, im a tummy sleeper and i cant get comfy anymore! then there is busting to wee, then heartburn, then weird dreams and now I apparently snore! you are not alone

AFM- hi girls just got home from labour ward, no im still pregnant but at my appointment yesterday bubs heartrate was 170! so was on monitors all night, he wouldnt calm down, kept getting hiccups apparently, you could hear the thump on the monitor but i couldnt feel them, he wasnt moving much either, had bloods and urine tested I had protein and high ketones and the liver function of an alcoholic! although i dont have GD! my BP was 148/82 so possible pre eclampsia also had an ECG and i have real bad tachycardia (fast pulse) at 120!!! sooo i have to see the Ob director tomorrow for a full review and a scan in a week to check on bubs growth and distress. what was worse is the midwife came in and said " the doc will be here soon he is doing a vacuum delivery next door" as soon as she said this i hear this blood curdling scream then a few seconds later a newborn crying and i got all emotional and anxious! i cant believe they put me in DELIVERY!!! i was thinking i hope they arent inducing me tonight! but he said the bub wasnt getting anyworse so they will just monitor me weekly and see how things go. I knew something was coming! its always one thing after the other with me! im such a jinx!!! so im also on a movement chart. on the good side bubs is in a good position allready and i passed ALL 5 subjects at uni this semester even got a credit i cant believe it!

Hello lovelies,
just got time for a short one although I just read your dramas MHB and am thinking of you. what a huge night and I can't believe they put you in delivery...what were they thinking, that would calm you down???!! I hope you are both taking it easy and huge whopping big congrats on passing your semester. I know how much you have gone through and I hope you are really proud of yourself (feeling a little emotional for you).

Greenslw, I forgot to give you my little bit of advice on the nuchal screen. Honestly, from my experience, I would never in a million years go through the same scans. I would do what TwoMums' wise doctor suggested and if you really want to know if your baby will have abnormalities then skip the nuchal and opt for an amnio. if you think you need to know, the screen test is unreliable and can leave you with needing more tests or having more questions and a whole lot of unnecessary worry. The amnio (though it carries about 0.5% risk of miscarriage is 100% accurate and takes a sample of your babies' DNA from skin that it sheds. You will know exactly what you are dealing with and there is no guess work.

Alternatively, like MHB said, you are young and absolutely don't have to choose the scans. this is very biased advice of course, based on the most harrowing time of my life being told I would have a severely abnormal baby and that abortion was the likely best option, only to go through 7 weeks of waiting for amnio and results and then to find out we are having a perfectly healthy baby.. If the only reason you are doing the scan is like most of us, any chance to see the baby on the scan....really really think about it is all I can advise.

I'm thinking of you all and Jazzy is kicking along as I tap this out, (saying hello).

Good afternoon girls,

Just a quick one from me. I went for my 20 wk scan this morning and all is fine My bubs has a lovely round head, hehe 10 fingers and toes. It was VERY active which was causing the lady grief trying to check everything!!! Didnt find out what we were having as we want a surprise My placenta is low which may cause a problem if I was going naturally but Im not. Still not feeling any movement and have been told I wont for awhile as my placenta is at the front :-( I am ANXIOUSLY waiting to feel he/she kick! I sometimes think I am feeling something but cant be sure.

Kahlan - am thinking of you. Hope your little one arrives safe and sound soon. Look forward to hearing your news

MHB - you poor thing! Please take it easy and keep us updated.

Take care all,

Tania

Well I am the proud owner of one bundle of joy with a very strong heart beat at 162 beats per minute. I thought this was insane and had to check picture to be sure because I didn't believe DH when I asked him if I heard correctly.

OMG it is really happening. They have also brought my due date forward by two days. So I am now 7 weeks 4 days will have to go and change my ticker if I can figure out how.

Also ovaries where being camera shy stuck behind my uterus hence the pain. At least there is an explaination.
