Default #2 - What to Buy?

Ok so according to our ultrasound #2 is another girl so we have LOTS of clothes and as DD was small born we have pretty much every size.
I was wondering what i will need to buy for #2, so far my list is:

* Twin Pram/Stroller (other thread open, please check this out)
* New Car (well 2nd hand but it's a need)
* Tallboy
* Bookshelf

I was thinking DD can pick a blanket for #2 as a big sister present as i would LOVE DD keep her favourite blanket as her own, have also bought some new muslin wraps as #2 will be a summer bub and DD's are pretty ratty.
Am also thinking DD can pick some basic clothes fro #2 so she has some 'new' stuff of her own from us rather than all just hand me downs!

We are hoping to borrow SIL's turn-a-tot carseat, if she will let us (looonnnngggg story) as we already have one for DD and she loves it, saves us having to buy another carseat for her for now, can keep her in hers and then just move her to a booster seat etc later on.

We might have a kdis bed we can borrow for later on when DD has to move out of her cot or MIL has a cot at her house we can borrow if she's not ready to move, would LOVE for all the furniture to match though especially once we are in our new house!

Hmm any other thoughts, should i buy some new singlets etc, can't remember how many i have.
Anything you didn't have with #1 that you found you needed with #2?

I pretty much waited till bub was here then worked out what we needed. We didn't find out the sex with our first 3 though..

I think it is nice to have a special blanket or 2 and some nice clothes which is just thiers..

Thanks, yeah a blanket or two of their own is a must i think... will sort out sheets etc later on once we know if DD is moving into a big bed... then she will get new stuff and not #2.

Wont need many clothes as DD was spoilt rotten when she was born, we have everything from 00000 to what she's in now bought 1 cute neutral suit before we knew what we were having but want to get something as a big sister pressie that we can say Ava bought her.

Must go through D's stuff though and pick out some clothes i want to keep as HERS, so they can't get ruined and might put them in a box or something for her.

We got a swing for DD because the one DS had wasn't good enough for daddy's little princess apparently But we didn't buy many clothes, only a few wondersuits as she was born in the winter, and DS was a summer baby - so all his 000 clothes were the wrong sort of clothes for the season. Of course once everyone knew it was a girl - we had pink clothes coming out of our ears!!! LOL

I reused the wraps that I had... so she pretty much lucked out on everything.. LOL

Even now when we go toy shopping, we find ourselves buying more age appropriate toys for DS - and hardly anything for DD cos she just plays with his toys that he played with at that age!!! Its shocking really - bad parents *smack smack*

not bad parents just sensible, we are not buying new toys etc and we are reusing DD's baby gym and swing!

We are kind of lucky as DD was quite small and born in Oct so a lot of her 0000 and 000 clothes etc are summer clothes, so we should be able to get away with not buying many clothes at all.
Will be nice to put some stuff aside for DD as her own and for #2 as 'only hers' hehe.

Trying to save cash where we can really, obviously the bigger items are a must but i want her to have her own bookshelf etc anyway.

So scary..... not long for us now!

A carseat, somewhere to sleep, a twin stroller (or just use a wrap/carrier for a while)

All we will buy for the next one will be a carseat, as we already have a bassinet & cot that dont get used. I also have my wrap carrier I will use until I think its time for a twin pram (assuming DD is still in a pram)

We are lookgin at borrowing SIL's turn-a-tot for a carseat, we have a bassinet and hope #2 will be in there for a while then she can go into DD's cot and DD can go into a big girls bed!
We are in the process of looking at twin prams/strollers at the moment as DD is still quite small and although doesn't often nap in hers now she may in the future.

I got given a ring sling by a friend so will use that for quick shopping trips etc as DD loves the trolleys.

Ohh it's so scary... lol

I need to go through massive bag of DS clothes from 000 to 0 and sort out what can be used in summer!!!

Blanket wise I wont bother as we didnt really use blankets as we used swaddle me wraps then to grobags!

Still have swing, bouncer, gym play mat.

Need to get car seat for DS (maxirider), toddler seat for phil and ted and in feb will think about whether to move DS to bed or borrow cot.

look at the seasons for your clothes taht you have - given DD is being born in January, some of your stuff from Ava will be ok, but this bubba will need warmer clothes more quickly. let me know what you need for going into autumn. my little heffalump was bigger than A, and if #2 is similar size to Ava, will likely be similar size to E when she hits Autumn. i might be able to help you out with stuff

apart from the stuff you've listed - do you have something to put bubba in to "save" #2 from Ava while you are out of the room? Ava is still really young and you will need to know that #2 is safe - maybe a playpen or something. i'm not saying A would deliberately hurt her - but overdoing the love/toys is a big possibility!

Oh thanks BG will let you know her sizes as she goes if we are lacking on clothes.. your an angel.

Hadn't thought of the big sister love factor but we have a portacot i could put up and #2 could lay and play in there if i need to leave the room, well aslong as A doesn't try and pull it ontop of herself to get in... lol
Maybe a small old school wooden play pen or something would do the trick otherwise.

Hmm never thought of that, any lovely ladies have any issues with this and what did you use to keep #2 safe from the older kids attention?

couple of my baby buddies have commented on it - things like the older child trying to offer toys and covering the baby's face. nothing major happened, but it made me think of the importance of making sure you can keep them seperated while you're not there to supervise (and as good as you are - you'll have to leave them - damn that bladder lol)

i would probably think play pen more so than portacot - i think it would work better and A would be less likely to try and drag it over...

I still need some hints!

We bought a babylove tandem pram off e-bay for $136 and it's in MINT condition, so easy to fold and is only the size of my single pram which means I DON'T HAVE TO SELL MY CAR.. well we think

Also SIL has said we can use her old turn-a-tot which is great means DD will keep hers and Z can have one aswell, then we can just upgrade once A is to big for hers etc etc.

If we get this house we are looking at buying i will need safety gates for the stairs which we don't have now which means i can section A off from Z, i can leave Z in the lounge and A can follow me around with the safety gate locked!

So what else do i need?

Mum2Romone is an unknown at this point
Default Sounds like you have it all sorted

a sling i think is a must for a newborn with a toddler.

Remember 1 year olds poke at babies eyes... lol my friend always complains of her kids doing this.

Goodluck with the new bubba

Hehe yeah DD has a thing about eyes and noses at the moment.
I was lucky i was given a ring sling by my cousin who's friend makes them, just gotta figure out how to use it properly... lol

Decided we will get a tallboy now and her bookshelf with baby bonus money, will wash clothes as soon as i have the tallboy.

Any other suggestions?

*need to pack my hosp bag still - hmm*
