Just keeping track of it.
Age: 25 months
Words:
* Car noises (brrrm)
* 'Dadadada'
* 'da-da' (like ta-ta) when waving goodbye
Can also Babble (but we havent heard these for a few months now)
* 'mumumum'
* 'bubububub'
* 'nanananan'
* Imitating some noises
Can Follow these Instructions:
* 'Put that in the bin' (you need to point at what it is you want in the bin)
* 'put your plate in the sink' (will also do this without command)
* 'Pick it up' (same as the bin thing, must point to what it is)
Actions:
* Waving
* Pointing
* Clapping
* Shakes head for 'no' (often does this even when he wants something though)
* Pointing to Body Parts (nose, mouth, ears, hair and almost has tummy)

If you'd asked me 2 weeks ago my reply would have been yes. This week no. In the last two weeks Brendan has started to imitate some noises in the words we say and he's also started to point to his body parts.
So whilst he still isnt really communicating much, he is progressing with his understanding skills and he is trying.
It is still frustrating at times, because it's still very much a guessing game as to what he wants.

That's good to hear that you're not so worried now. It's hard when they are trying to tell you what they want but they can't communicate it properly.

Honestly Sally, it was the same with us when Bri was that age.
She was saying more, but was really hard to understand. So I don't think she was quite as limited from what I remember, but I was worrying about her & didn't really calm down on the 'she's never gonna talk' thing til she was just over 2.
I do realise that Brendan has been through alot & how hard it must be for you, but Bri was a perfectly normal, healthy baby who also had problems. They mightn't have been as bad, but they were there.
She's nearly 4 now & still hard to understand.

* dog noise - he doesn't say anything for this, it's all in the throat, mouth closed.
* 'da' When you give him something and ask him to say 'ta' he does.
* 'docks' (socks)
* 'dar' (car)
* 'o-oh' * 'lol-lol' (lolly)
* 'ball'
* 'guck' (truck)
* 'bots' (books)
* 'bye' Mimic words (he understands and does mostly when you ask)
* 'bo bo' (bottle)
* 'ba' (bath) * 'dink' (drink)
