I'm a journalist and web editor. I went on maternity leave officially at 38 weeks, but I had been working part time from home for a few weeks before then. I had planned to work right up to my due date, but my boss had gone away and left me in charge the department for a month when I was seven months pg and I was just exhausted.

I am an Early Childhood Teacher and went on mat leave at 34wks with DD and 32wks with DS. My job was (is) too physical and emotionally draining for me to go too long! As well as having a toddler to care for, it was just oo much!

I'm a secondary school teacher and originally planned to work till end of term (38wks) but saw the light and finished at 33wks instead due to poor sleep and general discomfort and exhaustion. Bubs arrived on the first Tues of the school hols so glad I had taken the time to get organised and have a rest. I have taken 6 months initially - but can't even imagine going back to work EVER and leaving my little man. I LOVE my job - but it doesn't compare at the moment!

I am a primary school teacher and I went on Mat leave at around 35 weeks with both......... I think that when I have a third I will work to 37 weeks, as I got really bored and antsy sitting around at home.

I work in insurance as a Case Manager. With DD I was requested to finish work at 34 weeks and DS took leave from 35 weeks. Next time, I may leave it later...if there is a next time!

High school teacher. Finished up at 35 weeks, at the end of the school year.

In hindsight, it was far too long as I spent most of the day on my feet and was severely anemic for the majority of the pregnancy. Fortunately my department carried me through and I managed to make it to the end (which then meant I got 7 weeks of paid holidays before my 14 weeks of paid ML started). Didn't have time to get bored, didn't have time to prepare or rest before Sam arrived at 36 weeks. I'm pretty sure I'll stop much earlier if there's a next baby.

Communications manager - finished up at 38 weeks but prob should have finished sooner as i was an absolute zombie until about 11am most days. Not being pregnant now, I'm only a zombie until 10.30am so a vast improvement

i was a marketing manager. i finished at 32.5 weeks & took a couple of weeks of leave before my official mat leave started. i've taken 12 months but i'm hoping i don't have to go back if i need to work again for financial reasons then i'm planning to look for something closer to home (it was an hour drive each way) & preferably part time.
