hi misssocial.i havnt had my children there but have witnessed 2 births there and must say all seemed petty good to me,the only thing both new mums had to say about it that was negative was that it was so busy that the nurses didnt really have alot of spare time on there hands to spend with them, they both stayed in for 2 nights.where do you live,i am having my baby at bachussmarsh and had my last one there also and can honestly tell you it was the best start to mother hood ,it is a small hospital and they absolutly spoilt me,i felt very important and you are garanteeed aroom to your self if you want one,i went as a public patient and felt like royalty.i live in hillside and it will take us 20 minutes to get to either hospital so it was an easy decision,i had my first son at a large hospital(box hill) and felt like sheep going in for shearing, just another number but that was 10 years ago and only a personal experience,so to answer your question as far as i know it is fine.

Hey Nicole, i think i talked to you once also about Bacchus Marsh, coz i had my son there!!
Your right, it was really good!!
Im accually living in St Albans now, and dont want the risk of having to drive 30-40 mins in labor.. I use to live in Melton and the 10 min drive to BacchusMarsh was bad enough! LOL..
The only good things about the Sunshine VS Bacchus is that Sunshine always has doctors there, whereas Bacchus has to call them in.. (i remember waiting that long horrible hour for DR Samuals) lol..

Hi Mizzsocial
I am having my baby at Sunshine, I am due in just under 3 weeks and everyone I know who has had their babies there have been rapted.
Although it could prob due with a paint job the staff are excellent and the care is second to none.
I would certainly recommend them.
I will let you know how I go in a couple weeks.

Hi there,
I had my first baby at Sunshine 5 years ago. I really couldnt fault it too much even though I am not going back there. I have since moved and Werribee Mercy is to convenient to go past (which I literally would on my way to Sunshine lol)
Anyway, the labour and delivery were pretty good. I ended up having an emergency c/section which I think could have been avoided but that isnt a refelection necessarily on the hospital staff as it probably would have happened in most places. But they acted very fast and were very efficient in L&D.
Up on maternity I had 95% good midwives. I got one that wasnt much cop but you get that everywhere. All in all it was a good experience and as far as hospitals go, if I didnt have Werribee I would be going back to Sunshine.
When are you due??
Good luck
Lisa

Well as you know I had my baby at sunshine on 31st Oct and I cannot say a bad word about the place.
With my complicated delivery they were fantastic. all the staff were lovely and everyone treated me as though as I was person.
Every midwife that worked whilst I was there was brilliant, they all had different opinions on ways to do things but all were very helpful.
Even the food wasnt half bad........
I would certainly go back to sunshine if i was to have another baby.

| | Sunshine Hospital - Melbourne - changes to midwife system
hi
i was told that sunshine has changed its midwife system and is not teams of midwifes anymore. i have had a look at the sunshine website and cant find anything.. i also looked at another website i cant remember the name of it but it lists the different options you can choose eg doctor, midwife and the hospital.
Does anyone know what they have changed to.
I have booked in but the lady didnt tell me really anything just said that it will be a while before i get any paper work from them.

Hi Angelraelz,
Im booked into Sunshine and i havent heard anything. I do know they used to have colour "teams" depending on where you lived, i was in the Green team, my friend was in the blue team, i was told last time i went in that they wernt having these anymore, just one big happy family! Could this have been what you heard about?

was going to have my daughter at sunshine, but when i went into labour at 25w iwas classified as high risk and told i was having my baby at RWH. she ended up coming at 30 weeks, so there would've been no chance of me having her anywhere else anyway. I had only just moved over here when i was 24w pregnant, i didnt even have a chance to book in!!

Yep the changes you are referring to are only about the coloured teams. There is no change to the midwives themselves, just there is no colours, just one big group now.
You will still be allocated a coloured midwife who will visit you once you are home with bubs |
