P. | Thanks Original P. I guess its all about the waiting game. Well i had my 1st IUI today, it was a bit uncomfy, but nothing as bad as that HyCoSy (Tubal test) yikes, that was a shock to my system lol
One thing i dont get it, The nurse that did my U/S told me i have 1 20mm follie in my Left ovary, with nothing in my right. I only produced 1 follie. Is this normall under Puregon treatment? I always thought the drugs would stimulate more.
Then todays nurse told me it was a follie in my Right Ovary..strange.
Thanks for your help, i am trying to read up on all the threads, so i can follow others journeys on Belly Belly |

Welcome Kittycat - and thanks for the question about Femarra. I don't think anybody on this thread has used this drug before, so it's most interesting (to me) to find something new to research.
I found this website here, which I think you should definitely read to understand the drug you're being treated with: Letrozole Femara infertility
My first question to your clinic would be why they chose Femarra instead of Puregon. I don't think there's anything wrong going on here! :-) But I for one would want to know why they chose a relatively new and untested drug over one that's been around for some time and has very good stats for success.
:-)

You know, our FS teams aren't infallible. When my guy did the hysterosalpingogram in my investigations, I always thought he got the results backwards. Ie - dye spilled freely from the left tube not the right as he noted. And he lost the actual picture so the dispute could never be resolved.
The main thing is, you've got one follicle, and if it implants, when they do your seven week scan, there'll be a corpus luteum on whichever ovary produced the egg, which will then prove which side it came from.
:-)

Hi Ladies
Looks like I am going to be in TWW sooner than I thought. I had thought I was coming on to ovulate as I had a lot of *cough* mucus and I was right. My U/S today showed that I was just about to ovulate so its another 2 hr drive back tomorrow to have the IUI done. Im very excited. The U/S showed 3 big follies (sorry can't remember size but nurse was very happy), 1 on the right and 2 on the left I think it was and 2 smaller ones that wouldnt catch up. I have a good feeling about this. We've also just bought a house so I am hoping that was the start of positive things to come.
Thanks for all your spport in here and good luck, hope we all get there this year, sooner than later.

Hey my fellow IUI buddies.......
I had my DAY 11 scan today which showed at least two good follies (one on each ovary), but it also showed some fluid up around the top of one ovary........any clues as to what that fluid is and why it would be there? FS didnt seem fazed by it - but i dont think anything would faze him either.
I remember i had fluid show up on a scan is a similar spot(to confirm a miscarriage) months ago.
Hope someone can help!

| | Threatened changes to the Safety Net
I'm horrified this morning to read this story in the Daily Telegraph: Baby bills up $2000 as Medicare Safety Net cut | The Daily Telegraph
If the Government reduces the safety net percentage for fertility treatment and pregnancy related medical rebates, firstly it is a direct discrimination against women. Secondly, it will directly impact the demand for services in public hospitals. The Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick has already indicated it has more bookings for births this year than it is equipped and funded to handle. New mothers are being sent home as early as four hours after giving birth as a result. Next door at Prince of Wales Private, they are shuffled off to a local hotel! All in the name of saving money and keeping beds available. We urgently need to repopulate to replace the tax payers who are retiring. Population begins with conception and birth. This, at least, is one fundamental truth that the Howard Government understood.

Hi and welcome Olin. You are in TWW with me. Last IUI I had I was more dizzy than I am this time. You can get those symptoms you described from the Pregnyl. So my advice is don't get your hopes up too much - as hard as that is but stay positive. Some people on here say just ignore all sypmtoms if you can.
I think really the best way of knowing is to do HPT once the Pregnyl would have worn off and of course from the BT. I have my BT of the 16th but I will probably do a HPT on the 14th I recon.
GL and I hope you get a much deserved BFP and that we can be pregnant together.
All the best

| | HPTs
Girls, I can't advise enough against using HPTs. Anyone on any kind of fertility drug will not get an accurate reading. Even the blood tests aren't conclusive when you use Pregnyl. On my third and fourth IUIs the BTs showed a beta hCG of over 40 which is technically a positive result - but the lack of progesterone said otherwise. Then I did an HPT after my last IUI and it was negative. Four days later the BT showed up positive - and now I'm 22wks.
HPTs do nothing but upset girls like us. The TWW is awfully hard to get through, and this forum is here to help you cope. But stay away from the HPTs. They are wrong so often, it's just not worth the heartbreak.

Thanks OP
Im trying very hard not to do HPT's because I realise they do give a positive reading when using Pregnyl or others.
I think if I was throwing up then I might know Im pregnant but realise probably the only way to know for sure is to have the proper tests done. I know my body pretty well - so I may have some idea but not for certain.
Hope things are well for you. Thanks for your advise and support.

Hey girls,
I'm currently in the midst of my TWW as well - DAY 24 today........dont really have any hopes up this cycle - im finding that with IUI and everything being much more out of our control,i find its a heap less stressful...ie not worrying about timing or whether i have good follies or a good lining or whether DH's sample was up to scratch cos these things are all known when you do IUI.....does that make sense?
I still am thinking about it constantly - but not as stressed.....weird.
Loops 12 and Olin - good luck!

Hi ladies,
I hope you don't mind me dropping into this thread, I recently had an IVF cycle converted to a IUI. I have a question re the trigger injection and a HPT BFP. I had a 5000iu pregnyl trigger injection on Friday morning 3rd March, IUI on Saturday 4th March, I did a POAS yesterday approx 11.5 days past trigger. What are your thoughts on the 5000iu trigger being out of my system by then? Especially if testing with a Lullaby Conceptions that reads as low as 10 hcg?
Your thoughts would be much appreciated, TIA.
