Default New IVF treatment & Acupuncture in Melbourne

Hi everyone,

I feel like a newbie although I have been on and off with Belly website but new with IVF treatment as this is my first cycle. Have been trying naturally for 2.5yrs. Clomid 3 cycles no luck. Had endo removed. I am going to start IVF treatment when my af starts which is around next week (actually i'm praying that it's doesn't come!)
I'm with Dr Kovacs at Monash IVF and he told me that I'm going to start with their new treatment that only last 3 weeks. So, I'm going on the pill for only 7 days and nasal spray for only 2 days instead of 7. Has anyone been on/ heard of this?

Also, I've heard alot about acupunture and the benefits it has with IVF. I want to go for acupuncture, just wanting to know if I could go to just anyone or do they need to be specialised with IVF treatment? I'm with Monash IVF and if anyone knows a good acupuncturist in the Clayton or surrounding areas , that would really help.
Sorry for long msg... i get carried away sometimes...
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot
Minn.

Default IVF amd acupuncture

HI Minn
I am ttc after a miscarriage in Jan. I am going monash ivf tomorrow! Rachel knight is my Dr. I am on my third cycyle of clomid. My last cycle was 37 days so I thought I was preg and became quite down after finding I wasn't.
I had some acupuncture in Port Melb recently. I too have heard that its helpful so I decided to give it a try. I could ask my acupuncturist if she can recommend anyone in your area.
I'm 40 so we are doing things faster than they would with a younger person.
I have a little girl who is 2 and we are desperate to give her a sibbling. TTC again is more stressful than I thought it would be and I am not working so I am not focussed on other things.
Being relaxed is important so I think Acupuncture can help relax you and open up energy chanels that might be blocked. I suppose its the case of what have you got to lose?
Good luck and let me know if you want an acupuncture referral.
Also, I hope you don't get your period and get preg before the treatments start.
Fingers crossed. I know two people who tried for three years and were successful on their first ivf attempt. So keep this in mind if you have to have the treatments!!! Good luck.

Hi Yogamum,
Thanks for your reply. Like you I had a miscarriage last year April. It was my first preggie and I mis at 7 weeks. To be honest, I don't like Dr Kovacs much, but going thru the first cycle with him and if that doen't work out I might change docs.
Yes I would like to get an acupuncture referral. I feel so lost about it all. I checked the Yellow Pages and there were so many that I didn't know where to start!! What concerns me is I don't know if I can go to just anyone...
When you go into Monash tomorrow perhaps you can ask about the new short cycle treatment that they introducing. I'm hoping that someone here on Belly is also on it...it's quite new.
All the best of luck with IVF, I hope you fall preggie soon!
Minn.

Hi Minn,
I am also with Monash IVF at Clayton and currently going through my third stim cycle. Unfortunately I am doing the long winded down reg cycle....pill 3 weeks, synarel 2 weeks then injections for 10 or so days. It feels never ending! Might ask my doc about this shorter cycle you are doing.
As for acupuncture, I had a couple of sessions last cycle and will be going again next week if I manage to get an appointment. I found an acupuncturist in Berwick who has experience with IVF. I think it definitely helps rather than just going to anyone. I only found him through lots of googling! I noticed that a lot of ads say they specialise in natural fertility, but there are few that say IVF. If Berwick isn't too far for you, I can give you his details.

Hi Megan,

I had a quick read of your TTC journal and I want to say...you are very strong and keep being strong!!

I had a look in the yellow pages and saw that the ones that specialise with IVF support are mainly near the city. Berwick is not very far from where I live, but it's far from my work. I guess there will have to be some travelling for this sort of thing. If you don't mind I would like to have his details....
Af still hasn't arrived...due tomorrow...urghhh!!
Going to watch some TV now. Bye!

HI Minn
I saw my acupuncturist today. I'm sorry to say she doesn't know anyone in your area.
I went to the fiertility specialist who was lovely, Rachel Knight and we are going to have a scan to see exactly when I'm ovulating this month. If I don't concieve it will probably be IVF after that.
Let me know how you are going with the fast track IVF. Fingers crossed for both of us.

Minn, I am so sorry I didn't see this earlier. I haven't been around as much as usual, but I still can't believed I missed this.
His name is Brett Leo and he works from Earthwise on Clyde Road in Berwick. Just google earth wise and you will come across their website with all of his details. Hope this helps.
