The best advice I can give at this point is to make an appointment at Rozelle now. They usually are fairly heavily booked, and it may take about 3-4 weeks to be able to get in for your first appointment. It could just be that my work times and travel times restrict me to certain hard to get hours, but it's certainly not going to hurt to get booked in early.

Smile Rozell Prices

Hi Tam88,

I paid $110 initial consultation but they go through everything with you and place you on a diet if you are not eating right. I have been on the diet for 2 weeks now... its a welcomed healthy change! Subsequent visits are $60, I am going weekly and loving it. I fall asleep each time.

Good Luck with it!

BTW, watch the herbs, my docs says no herbs as they may interfer with the IVF/ICSI cycle.

Hi ec_squared.

Thanks for the info. I'm not going down the IVF path yet but thanks for the heads up about the herbs.

I am going to change to Rozelle after I finish this moths worth of TCM i brought other wise it will be a waste of money.

Maybe I might run into you there. Thanks again

So b_w would you say you're a bit of an acupuncture success story?

We're thinking of trying this

Difficult to answer that question, futuremum!

Some would point to the fact that it took 18 months of IVF to fall pregnant, and that the acupuncture didn't really do anything to help things before we started IVF.

Others would look at the fact that we had 5 embryo transfers and a total of 4 pregnancies and a LOT of problems to overcome, but we got there. We're dealing with severe male factor infertility plus female factor infertility with one definite and two possible disorders contributing to make conception difficult and miscarriage more likely.

I do know that without the sanity-saving effects of acupuncture I'd have thrown in the towel a long time ago and wouldn't be where I am today, so I guess you can write it up as an acupuncture success, even if it did nothing to help the physical process.

hi,
i too am currently getting weekly treatment with a acupucturist, i asked my gyno about the acupucture treatment as i'd seen ladies comment they to had used it on this site..My gyno said it was a good idea and soon ivf units will work in conjuction with acupunturist in the near future...
At this stage i am still in the stim part of the cycle and any day now going to do epu... i plan to have acupucture the day before embryo is expected to take which will be 1 day after transfer...so fingers crossed i too can be a success story....However having done a stim cycle before i am noticing i am much more relaxed about things and i do believe this is due to the acupuncture...

Kylie - I recommend Geoff Brothers at Nedlands Natural Health - I know it's not exactly north of the river, but Geoff is awesome. He specialises in fertility problems and I'll be using him when I start ivf in Jan. He helped me get through the stress of my PhD over the last year.

Smile I've had success!

Hi Everyone,

I have undergone my first ICSI cycle and along with it I did acupunture (weekly) and followed a very balanced healthy diet that my naturopath/acupuncturist put me on (liver detox somewhat). I am now 8.5 weeks pregnant!!!! So excited and pleased!!!! I couldn't believe it when I received the phone call telling me I was pregnant after hearing so many stories of the first cycle being a test cycle, don't get your hope high (which I totally did not) etc etc. But, despiute all of that I was determined to do everything I possible could to help my first ICSI cycle be a successful one.

I honestly believe that without the balanced eating and the acupuncture my results would be VERY different. You see, the day before my ET I got food poisoning and thought my ET was going to be cancelled, I was so sick and stressed asI never got food poisoning so bad before. Luckily my great doc decided that I was still ok to go ahead with the ET, I just had to have 3 days full rest and drink loads of fluids to keep me from dehyrdating.

In saying all of that, I would totally recommend acupuncture with an IVF/ICSI cycle but you need to see a clinic that specialises in infertility as they know exactly what you are going through every step of the way and are a great help by reassuring you and assisting you in every way. I think if I just went through the ICSI cycle on its own, it would of been a much more frightening experience for me and my husband and who knows what the outcome would of been.

Good Luck & Take care,

El

The essence of fertility wellness, is to take a closer look at the body from a holistic perspective and correct any and all imbalances that may be contributing to fertility problems. It is our belief that all women and men should strive for optimal health when planning to begin a family. The reproductive system works much like a concert symphony – a masterpiece is created only if all the players are giving their best. Women may have clues that their periods are not healthy; they may have lots of PMS symptoms or pain, heavy bleeding or irregular cycles. Acupuncture

Why Use Acupuncture for Infertility?

Acupuncture offers a natural approach to treating infertility by focusing on enhancing the quality of eggs, sperm, endometrial lining and cervical fluid. Sometimes this is enough for couples to conceive on their own and it is a very important step for couples who are about to undergo the expense and physical demands of IVF. Acupuncture can also support patients during In Vitro Fertilization, Artificial Insemination, and Hormonal Therapy cycles. Multiple studies have shown and most doctors agree that acupuncture increases the success rate of these intense procedures and also helps to alleviate the uncomfortable side effects. Acupuncture is a low-cost, non-invasive, and non-side-effect producing compliment to the western health care a woman seeking pregnancy needs.

smithy - i didn't find acupuncture hurt at all - the needles are really fine and whilst i was aware of them going in, there was no pain & then i completely forgot they were there altogether!

i wasn't on ivf, but to help fertility, my acupuncturist put needles near my ankles, on my feet, near my wrists & a couple on my calves (the front). she did put one needle in between my eyes (above the bridge of my nose) but that was just because i'd been really stressed about work & this is apparently a very relaxing point!

when i went back after getting my BFP, she did put some needles in my belly & in the middle just below my breasts - and these points were to help the PG hold.

i found the whole process very relaxing

it relaxes you smithy

i have about a dozen needles in at a time - and they stay in for x amount of time - in that time, because you're in a quiet room, you just relax - you can't move etc! i found the relaxation was the most beneficial part of the the Ap treatment

Smithy, the only time I have needles in my face is when I need to have my sinuses cleared. But as the others have said, you barely feel the needles at all. In fact, if they hurt, they're doing it wrong!

Smithy - It is the best sleep I have had. I get one needle in the centre of my forhead on the hair line and I pass out cold for like 20 minutes. The other needles go in my shins, wrists and feet. I have never felt pain - once, not sure why, but it must have been pinching somehow - kind of like when you get a hair caught in a watch band, but not as painful.

I had session before and after transfer and then started once a month after that.

I swear by it. My headaches are getting pretty severe at the mo and the Ap. helps a lot.

You'll never never know if you never never go.....
