Unhappy Help! OHSS

I think I have got OHSS. I just had ultrasound today, the nurse said there are too many follicle even she couldn't count how many, it is so awful. I'm very sick these days, headache, abdominal pain, breasts pain (even too painful to touch). The nurse asked me to continue the injection tomorrow and stop on Friday and have an ultrasound again, but I worry about my ovaries if continuing injection tomorrow I will be more sick and I don't think the dose is right for me. what should I do?

ring your FS again - when I had heaps of follicles they stopped my injections a few days earlier ,then brought EPU forward. If you fell unwell ring them first thing in morning - I didn't have OHSS but they thought I was close and considered cancelling my cycle -they didn't fortunately - it would have been hard but not worth risk of OHSS.

I hope you feel better and don't have OHSS

baby~amore, thank you for your advice. I will go to westmead tomorrow morning, I think I better go to see the doctor. They considered to cancel my cycle too, but I hope I can have EPU done, because as normal cycle I still have many small follicles, so I hope I can have some frozen embryos for next IVF cycle.

let me know how you go - I went to WFC - they can do A freeze all if they do think you have OHSS.

baby~amore, my cycle has been cancelled.
I'm the 'top one' in WFC who has the most quantity follicles total are 43 in one cycle.
it's a more risk to have OHSS if I go ahead, so the cycle cancelled.....

so sad...they asked me to go back to work...I don't have the mood.

Oh slove, Im so sorry. I know exactly how you feel and its awful! My dr said the same thing first cycle and cancelled me because the trigger shot only makes it worse. Mind you the two cycles following I was almost as high a level and every single time had over 50 follicles and the second two cycles were not cancelled - so who knows??

You take some time to look after yourself and allow yourself to be upset, too.

Quick question - what dosage were you on?

oh, my god! Keen, how come you got over 50 follicles? there would be so sick if you got that many...because I was so sick, really sick and the hormone level is so high too(even today, still high). I think you and me also got over dose. this time I had 150 IUs/day puregon injection. the dr said he will give me 75 IUs/day (only half dose of I took this time!)for the next new cycle.

keen, can I ask if you started your new cycle stragight away just after the cycle you cancelled?

I am so sorry slovebaby - it isn't fair but OHSS is dangerous.

I think they will make you rest a cycle ... wait for AF and start the process again. Next time we hope you a good response too but not such like OHSS.

just thought i would let you know that i was on a low dose (75IU) for my ivf and had 32 follicles! My transfer was cancelled and all embryos were frozen... I did go on to develop OHSS, but didn't require hospitilisation! I had a FET done the very next cycle, ie. about 4 weeks after the retrieval. So you shouldn't have to wait too long for another attempt. Good luck!

thx! baby~amore.
I think I'll have a rest at least one cycle...I'm a little bit scared all this will happen again...in my situation, this will happen again at a high percentage ...but anyway, having a baby is my dream in my whole life...I will go on, never give up!

thx, curlylocks, that's why I'm thinking it will happen to me again even I use a low dose next time. you just approved this to me. If i have over 40 follicles again next time, I will not get epu done... I can't have FET because I don't have embryos

Good luck to you and good luck to me!

I am so sorry to hear of your cancelled cycle. Last fresh cycle I did I ended up with over 60 follies and I was on the same dose as my last one where I only had 16 but they think it was the pcos playing games. I ended up with 32 eggs, but I was so sore and was stressing the whole 2 ww about OHSS which I feel know wouldnt of helped my embie. I would ever do it again, your health is more important.

Hugs
Shazz.
xx

PCOS is really bad. I didn't realize that until I had my IVF cycle canceled. I think I have got PCOS too, but no one tell me exactly if I have got it or not. I'm not very look like only the ultrasound shows many small follicles during my normal cycle. but I still can tested I have ovulations. so i'm really confused now. how can I know if I have PCOS and how can i control not have too many follicles next IVFcycle?

Slove, I was first cycle on 150ui which was drpped down straight away and both cycles following have been on 75ui right from the start and still had the exact same response. My sonographer asked me if I had PCOS when she saw my u/s image but when I asked RE he told me I didnt have PCOS because when I had u/s during non stim cycle all was normal. So.... who knows.

Unfortunately you cant really control not having so many follies - so Im told - bar for reducing dosage. Best to speak to your RE about what to do next.

As for whether I went again straight after - I have never gone straight away again after each cycle so I could give my body a chance to recover from it all and hopefully get down to a baseline again before pumping in the hormones again. But that has been my personal choice and my past RE has never suggested whether to or not.

My new specialist may have some more suggestions but we are yet to discuss doing a cycle with him as we are focusing on fixing some other issues at the moment.

Keen, I was told to do natural IVF cycle which could help us who have many follicles. they can mature the eggs externally and avoid hormone stimulation.but i'm not quite sure if sydney has this technic or not, i know other countries have.

Yeah im not too sure. I know that if you usually ovulate you can have a 'normal' natural cycle and just hope that you get a good sized mature follie. But my understanding is that at this stage you cannot mature eggs externally in any of the clinics I know of... see this article that I posted a little while ago http://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums/...ad.php?t=27394
