Default IVM advice please

HI,
I am having IVF, I had 1 STIM cycle, but only got 1 follicle, so decided to wait till the following month to hopefully get more eggs, the following month turned out to be 3 months due to cysts forming.
Started another STIM cycle this month, only got 1 follicle but decided to go ahead with the operation anyway, they got 1 egg, it fertilised but did not make it to the Blastocyst stage
Next month I have to have to "rest" and then start again the following month, but they have said they are going to do IVM instead, which is where they take the small immature eggs and mature them outside the body - because the last 2 attempts I had a few smaller follicles that were no good for collection for IVF.
Has anyone had IVM and can tell me what to expect? I am quite nervous I want to be hopeful but am finding it quite hard at the moment because what i have already been through.I am going to the Fertility Specialists of WA at Bethesda Hospital in Claremont, they are great. Is anone else going there?

Thanks

Hi eevee - I am also at FSWA and love it there. The nurses and lab staff are fantastic - who is your Dr? I did two rounds of IVM (Check out my blog from Jan - March 08 for more info). Unfortunately it didnt work for me, but that is mainly due to male factor infertility. IVM is a great way to avoid IVM and Steve the scientific director has been doing a lot of work with IVM, where their success rates are nearly as high for IVF. Blog is here

Hi Bec,
GOOD LUCK for tomorrow, let me know how it goes! I read your blog, you have been thru alot, i really hope it works for you this time
We are seeing Dr Aitken but have only seen him once, its always the nurses now, Steven Junk is the one who suggested the IVM, I have read up on the internet and the IVM seems a pretty good option.
I am just really worried that it wont work again, and it was just all the waiting, i felt anxious and worried the whole time, because the the egg fertilised but it was developing really slow, so it took 6 days for them to eventually say it didnt make it to the blastocyst stage.
Its so hard to keep positive but i dont want to be negitive, I am feeling really down at the moment because i am realising that this is going to take longer than i expected, i just thought it would work straight away...how do you cope and stay so positive?

Mike Aitken is really lovely, as is Steve so you are in good hands. IVM sounds like it is a really good options for you guys.

I've had the same thing happen with a slow developing embryo and not knowing until the last minute that their was no embryo - it is heart breaking.

It is definitely hard to stay positive, both DH and I have been through depression over this time, it's a huge life changing thing to go through IVF. The only thing I can say is to be kind to yourself and dont have unrealistic expectations on how you react and what you should be doing during IVF. Might see you around the clinic
