Default Bad Thaw Result any one else had this happen

Just a quick one and hoping to get peoples thoughts and or experiences.

We did our cycle and had good results of 6 eggs with 5 fert, transferred 2 fresh and no result, 3 frozen at 3 days.

We were getting ready for the next FET and on doctors advice we where to thaw all 3 left and let them start growing and transfer at blast. Well we rang the nurse to make sure she kept us up to date with what was going on at 9.00am Friday. My wife received a call from the nurse at 10.00am with the news not one had survived.
It stunned us as we have only ever lost 1 in a thaw out of 11 transfers.
Has anyone else had such bad results on thaws?
What was the doctor?s recommendation?
Thanks for your thoughts

It's a little unclear... did the embryos fail to thaw, or fail to grow to blast?

I've had bad results at both - from a total of 35 eggs (over two cycles) I've had only 11 get to blastocyst. Of those 11, all were frozen and only 4 of them ever thawed.

My clinic put it down to a very particular reason - I have PCOS and had hyperstimulated (with 26 and 32 eggs collected each time!) with both cycles and their solution was to not get OHSS next time... Difficult, but it worked.

Sometimes they just don't have a reason for things failing to progress or failing to thaw. There's a lot still unknown in the science of ART.

I hope you have much better luck next time.

I'm sorry I can't offer advice, but I really feel for you. To be getting ready for weeks and then get that news must be devastating. I haven't done a frozen cycle yet...trying to do one more stim before end of year, but we have 4 frozen so it's something we've worried about for the future.

One question, with your other frozen transfers, did you grow them on to blasty or transfer once they'd defrosted at 2/3 day?

At our FET in july we tried to thaw all of our embies (3). Two survived the thaw, but one stopped developing overnight so we were left with one to transfer which was done @ day 3. I did get a BFP but had a loss at 8 weeks 3 days.

I am really sorry for your loss. To me, the embies are potential babies and I was really surprised at how upset I was when the two perished....
