Default Puregon question

Hey guys,
I'm on my first IVF cycle. I started 150iu of puregon yesterday morning....

My question is, would I be able to feel any movement in my ovaries straight away? because yesterday afternoon there was some definite pulling and twinges. Surely it doesn't work that quickly?

Your thoughts are very much appreciated.

Thanks
Sue xxx

Hi Sue,

It normally took me until about day 5 or 6 of injections before I started feeling any twinges in my ovaries, by day 10 - 12 they were really sore (I normally ended up with about 15 mature eggs). I think the respose is different for everyone, and we are surely super sensitive to any feelings in that region.

I hope that is means things are definitely on the move for you and wish you well with your first scan to check how your follies are going. All the best for a successful cycle. xx

Thanks so much for the response BDT and congratulations on your BFP!

I hope that this cycle is successful for us too.

Default how much do you use?

Hi Ladies, just a question

I noticed everyones levels of puregon can be low.

I just did my 1st round of IVF - and I started off at 100iu then it continually ramped up to 435iu - does everyone start at a low level then go up or is it just me that had to inject such large amounts?

Hey,

I think that your FS makes the judgement on your IF issues and just really how well he thinks that you will respond to the drugs. Starting low is the best way to go because it means that they can go up just as they have done with you. Starting high is potentially bad because of OHSS.

I had an IUI cycle before this and was on 50iu of puregon and only produced one follicle. 150iu produced 18!!!! Really it is just trial and error.

I am sure others will know more about this than me though.
Fingers crossed your BFP is on its way!!

Krikkit, the first IVF if often trial and error dose-wise if you haven't used the injects before. I did 2 IUI's with 75iu of Puregon and then my last IUI with 100iu. Since I only produced one follicle on 100iu we started at 225iu for IVF#1 (6 eggs) and then used 325iu for IVF#2 (6 eggs) and #3 (5 eggs). My FS doesn't want to go higher even though I'd be willing to try up to 450iu.
