Hello everyone,

My name's Jacinta, I'm also studying the BMid at ACU Melbourne and would love to connect with women on their birthing journeys. I'm located in North Balwyn, which is in the eastern suburbs, but can travel.
I've had the honour of being present at four births so far, one of which was a wonderful homebirth.
I'm honoured to offer my support and time to birthing women. If you'd like someone to chat with, to listen to your concerns, to source information for you, I'd love to hear from you.

Feel free to contact me for more information at jacinta.cross@gmail.com

Howdy and happy fertility festival / Easter to you all!

My name is Emma and I am a first year student midwife at the lovely University of South Australia. I am 27, live with lovely partner, a cat and two housemates in a great house in the eastern suburbs. I work at a local hardware store, am a passionate knitter, sing in a choir and am proud to be moving towards being a great midwife.

As a part of my program, I need to find some women who would allow me the honour and pleasure of following them through their pregnancy. This year, I need 10 to follow from roughly 30 weeks through ante-natal appointments (at least 2), labour and birth if ok with you and your partner, and into the post-natal period. I see my role mainly as support, a sounding board and encourager, and a source of information. In no way will I replace any of your medical professionals or other advisors, and I am of course brand new at all of this so will be learning as I go.

So - I am asking anyone in the Adelaide area to contact me if they or someone they know might like my support in this exciting time! The aim of my following through women in their experience is to gain experience in pregnancy and childbirth so no pregnancy is off-limits to me! In fact - I need experience in all aspects of birth so that when I step out in three years, I will be confident being "with woman", as a true midwife should be.

If you feel you might be interested, please contact me at studentmidwifeATinternodeDOTonDOTnet or 0411 160 380 if you have any questions. I also have a pdf brochure that I can send you with extra information.

Emma

P.S. As I'm new to all of this, I am still figuring out what kind of midwife I want to be. But - mostly, I have faith that women can birth babes naturally into this world with minimal interference and a lot of support. My favourite quote is: "We have a secret in our culture, it's not that birth is painful, it's that women are strong"

Default Any pregnant Brisbane/Gold Coast mums out there?

Hi,

Firstly, to anyone out there who is pregnant, CONGRATULATIONS! It really is the most miraculous and special event of your life. I have two little bundles of joy (2 and 4) and this year I have begun my journey to become a midwife!

I am a first year Bachelor of Midwifery student at the University of Queensland. It is the first year the course has ever been offered in Qld so it is all very exciting!

As part of the course requirements, I need to follow-through with 30 women including two antenatal visits, labour and birth (if you're happy to have me there), and two visits in the postnatal period.

I do regular clinical shifts at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, so ideally I need mums who plan to birth at the RBWH. (The uni has set this rule for legal reasons). I live on the Gold Coast, so I'd also love to be able to be involved in the antenatal/postnatal care of any willing mums on the GC.

If you are interested please email me and I can give you more info on the follow-through experience and be able to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks for your time,

Lisa B

Please email me at lukiboi@iprimus.com.au

Default sharing your pregnancy with a student!

Hello there everyone!

My name is Alicia, I am 23 years old and I am a first year midwifery student at Flinders University in Adelaide. I have only just moved here this year (2007) from Canberra and am on a quest to find some women who would like to share their pregnancy with me!

As part of the program we accompany women to 3 of their prenatal appointments with their primary carer, be it GP, OB or midwife, 1-3 of their postnatal appointments with baby and the birth if everyone is in accordance.

So far I have really enjoyed every component of sharing this experience with pregnant women and found it the most rewarding element of this academic journey! I do not have any children of my own at the moment, so I really thrive on listening to what women really want out of their pregnancy and the care they are provided!

If there are any women who are interested in contributing to the quality of care and learning experiences of the future generation of midwives in Australia then please give me a buzz at gogogadgetalicia@gmail.com

Thanks,
Alicia

Smile Student Midwife would love to contact pregnant women in Adelaide Hills.

Hi,
and if you are pregnant...congratulations!

I'm Beck, a 2nd year Midwifery student at UniSA. If you are pregnant and in the Adelaide Hills or surrounding area, I would love to hear from you! As a student midwife, I can offer extra support, in addition to that of your partner/support person. I can come to some of your ante-natal appointments with you (an "extra pair of ears"), and support you during labour and delivery of your precious bundle. As a 2nd year student, I can also assist with the birth, if that is what you would like. Linking with a student offers you continuity of carer throughout your pregnancy and birth experience. Of course, everything I do is under the supervision of your midwife or doctor.

If you are interested, or would like more information without obligation, drop me an email: beckfish@bigpond.com.au

Default Midwifery student

Hi everyone
My name is Dawn and I am a second year midwifery student studying at Flinders Uni in SA.
I am a mother of two great kids, one girl and one boy (19 and 15). We moved to Austalia 2 years ago from the UK and have never been happier. We love your wonderful country.
As said on this wonderful website as part of our course we must follow 10 women a year through their pregnancy, birth and post natally. I have loved doing this, but as always I am still looking for women who would be willing to share this special time with me.
Ideally I am interested in women who are planning to birth at Flinders (public or private) but any offers are greatfully received.
I have an information booklet and can chat about my philosophy if anyone is interested please contact me via uni email
ward0197@flinders.edu.au
Many thanks
Dawn

Hello mumma's to be...

I'm a second year student midwife studying a double degree of Nursing and Midwifery at Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria. I was inspired to study midwifery after the birth of my two beautiful little girls (with another on the way) and now want to give back to other mummy's the wonderful, inspirational and supportive treatment I received from midwives. I would love to spend time with any women in Geelong and surrounding areas through their pregnancy, labour & birth (if you chose) and those initial few weeks afterward. If you would like some more info, I am happy to email you Deakin's pamphlet and consent form so you can consider the experience. I would be thrilled to participate and provide support in any way I can. My contact email is ajbeggATdeakinDOTeduDOTau

Hope to hear from any mummy's2b soon!!!!

Default Student midwife

Hi ladies,

I am a second year Bachelor of Midwifery student at Australian Catholic University in Melbourne, and would love to get in contact with some mothers to be! As mentioned by others, we have to complete "follow through journeys" with pregnant mothers as part of our required learning. If you are earlier than 35 weeks pregnant, live in the Melbourne area (preferably the eastern suburbs- although I am prepared to travel)and are willing to be part of the program, I would love to get in touch with you!

I followed through Nelle last year with her pregnancy and birth, and she is more than willing to answer any questions about me or the program. If you have any queries at all about what's involved or if you want to be followed though, I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you,
Coby Ramsden.

Hi everyone,

I am again looking for women who would be willing to let me accompany them on their journey to early parenting. I am in Adelaide (North East), and would love to hear from anybody who would consider sharing this time with a student. As a midwifery student, I am committed to supporting natural birthing. If you are interested or would just like to know more about the program, feel free to drop me an email.

Smile Student midwife in Melbourne

Hi my name is Rebecca Magee. I am a Graduate Diploma in Midwifery student at the Australian Catholic University in Melbourne and a qualified nurse. I am currently based at the Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg.

I am looking for women who would like to participate in a follow through journey with me. Basically this involves me following you through your pregnancy and for a short time following the birth of your baby. I do not do any physical examinations (you'll have had enough already) nor do I need to be present at the birth of your child, but ask many questions and, if you feel comfortable, attend any appointments relating to your impending birth. I am also an information hub and if you would like it, can find you information on anything relating to pregnancy, childbirth, child rearing, anything you would like. As I have also worked pediatrics I have lots of information relating to the health of young children and many resources I can offer you. This can be a crazy and sometime scary time so I'm willing to help make things a little less scary and hopefully a little less crazy!

If this sounds like something you and your family would like to participate in please email me on rebecca_magee@yahoo.com
Thank you for taking the time to read this

Default looking for one-to-one support? :)

*waves* Hello everyone!

My name is Amanda Chow. I am currently a second year Bachelor of Midwifery student studying at ACU (Australian Catholic University).

I am extremely interested to connect and support any woman out there who is willing to share their wonderful experience during their pregnancy, birthing and early days of parenting.

I've loved and enjoyed everybit of my midwifery practice. It is so amazing! Even the feeling of witnessing the birth of a new born baby is indescribable. The experience is just so beautiful.

I consider the 'follow through journey' as a highly rewarding experiences. Not only do you get the chance to help me with my midwifery practices; but you are also benefitting yourself as I can help you understand any complications or assist you with any inquiries needed to be answered. I have a lovely midwife mentor that will guide me in the longrun through my studying. She will also be here to assist.

This is a great opportunity to furthur expand my knowledge, learning and giving the best accurate care for women during their pregnancy and onwards. Also to help me to understand a woman's needs and the way a woman would like to be treated.

As I have access to many spectacular resources in my university library, I would be honoured to get any extra information required to help you through your journey.

I would love to be part of your exciting experience

you can contact me anytime via my email: stwbry@hotmail.com if interested.

Thank you for your time.
