| | Do you take a multi vitamin? Which one?
I like to take a multi-vitamin, but I am consistently overwhelmed by the choices out there. I've tried to do some research, but it often feels like comparing apples with oranges, and I don't know enough about how all the vitamins & minerals interact to know what works and what doesn't.
So I am curious as to what you all take and how its worked for you.
I used to take Vital Greens (yummy mixed with juice), which I think was really quite good, but was also quite expensive. I am pretty bad with taking anything bigger than a panadol, so it limits me a bit!

Hi Jessica,
I've done quite a bit of research on this one...
The one most recommended on the net and by experts is Swiss.
I've been taking them for over a year now and feel great. They are really comprehensive.

At the moment, I'm taking Elevit as a pregnancy multivitamin. When I'm not pregnant, I usually take Blackmores Vitality for Women.

I do Swiss, but if you can't take more than a panadol you might want to look at the capsules (you take two) as oppose to one in the super multi (but it is a bit big). I like swiss because they have the option of w/iron or without. Which is good for those that have diets high in iron.

Ok, def will be taking Suisse after so many recommendations.
Heliana- I've heard spirulina is wonderful too....in what form do you take it- powder, capsules?? Is it a whole "multi-vitamin" (ie- it contains all you need), or do you need to take something else as well?

If you ask naturopaths most if not all will not suggest supermarket multis, even the swisse ones aren't that potent. Everything comes in such small doses, you get what you pay for the majority of the time. I have a practitioner only multi: Nutrition Care. Nicole from the BB Centre recommends this one. Its really good |

I take Swiss but not very often. I figure that I get most of what I need from my food.
Supposedly Australians have the most expensive wee in the world because we're more hooked on multi-vitamins than any other nation lol.

Ah this is a great thread as I was thinking of taking multi-vits. Embarrassed to admit but i dont eat much veggies so it would be great to find a multi-vit that is good.
Kelly looking forward to seeing what the costs are too. Is there a website we can visit for more information about Nutrition care?

Nicole's website is Nurtured By Nature - Australia - I'll alert her to this thread maybe she can respond herself - but goot multi's are worth it - if you are going to get some, you may as well get some that are decent enough to be effective.

My late FIL who was a pharmacist swore by Nutrican Care. Even after they sold their pharmacy they kept ordering it themselves - the cough mixtures are good - they actually work! They said the supermarket brands of vitamins were rubbish, and these ones were the only decent ones around. Ask your pharmacy to order them in for you.

Hey Lovely Ladies,
Sorry for the delay in posting this...
Now, I whole-heartedly agree with Kelly that there is a huge difference between supermarket/pharmacy multi's and practitioner-only multi-vitamins. Sadly, many of the over-the-counter brands use synthetic and cheaper forms of nutrients that are not absorbed at all well by our digestive systems. The practitioner-only supplements are sometimes a little more expensive, but much better value for money. The biggest difference is that you actually FEEL so much better on the good stuff - people actually notice a positive change in their energy levels.
I really like to match a persons needs to their multi-vitamin, and therefore there are a few I recommend. I do post medicines out to existing clients, but I need to have a quick chat on the phone before dispensing supplements. Feel free to call or email me - Kelly has posted my website details in her previous post...bless her!
It is definitely worth treating yourselves to quality supplements, and I'm really happy to help BB members to feel fantastic,
xxx
