Practicing my hypnobirthing - struggling to get into a routine

Hi all,

At my birth classes, we were given a CD of three tracks that follow the philosophy of hypnobirthing.

I completely understand the potential benefits of this and really want to get the hang of it. As you can see from my ticker, not much time left!

However I'm struggling to get into a daily routine to practice. I've tried listening a few times whilst in bed before I go to sleep but end up falling asleep about 5 mins in. Too relaxed I think!

Do you have a routine that you practice this with?

Cheers,
Fiona

I've had Pumpkin Patch Jeans in the past, but they don't seem to cut it for me this time around.

So, just wondering what your favourite maternity jeans were and where did you get them from?

I always kind of thought I'd have 4 kids. Both DH and I did.

But here I am pregnant with Number 3 and I am so, so tired. My veins hurt already (I have problem varicose veins and will need surgery on them one day, have known this for the last 15 years).

The morning sickness has gone, but I am still just drained. I cannot imagine how I would cope with 3 little kids and being pregnant with a fourth...especially considering that DS would be at school so I would have a school run to contend with every morning, instead of just pacing myself until I feel okay.

The exhaustion affects the way I parent too. I hardly ever feel like I'm on my "A Game" anymore and I feel like I'm ripping off DS and DD.

And I just don't want to go through another pregnancy and labour. It just feels like a chore. As much as I am excited about this new little baby, I am really not looking forward to labour again and no, my previous labours weren't traumatic.

I would like to know when I lose my preggy weight this time, that I won't be facing the prospect of putting it all on and taking it all off again.

Does this mean I am "done" and this is my last? Because, emotionally, I would love to have a 4th child but I just don't want to go through pregnancy and labour again LOL. But I think that physically my body has had enough.

How do I know when I'm done? Is this a sign?

How much does your diet affect the size of the baby?

I'm pregnant with Number 3. DS was 3.83kgs, DD was 4.27kgs.

OB has warned me that babies tend to get bigger with each subsequent pregnancy and that I might want to make sure I reach for the carrot sticks rather than the cake during this pregnancy. She said it in a nice way, not having a shot at me at all - from a self preservation perspective I guess!

I ate pretty well with both DS and DD, sure I put away some chocolate but on the whole I was pretty good. And DH is a big guy, rugby player type of build...I'm sure there's a genetic factor going on a bit here.

So...how much does what you eat affect the baby's size? Anyone know? I'm not too worried, I just think DH and I make babies that are on the large side, but at the same time, if I had to choose, I'd pick an 8 pounder over a 10 pounder, if you know what mean....?

I am pretty certain everything is going ok....... the 24/7 sickness is really bad, and I can hardly eat!!

I have never had morning sickness this bad, with any of them!!
My iron levels were really low, so the iron tablets have picked me up a little, but still queasy all the time....

Blood test results were all good....

My first worry... a healthy bub with nice heart beat.....naturally
Second worry... any clefting. I know they cant see too much yet, but if its bad it can sometimes as seen as incomplete bone structure in the face.

So, off to empty my bladder and drink a million litres, and get ready to see little surprise bubba!!!! :p

I know every place is prob different, but I was hoping to get some info on when I might be able to get my HcG results back?

I had the BT done this morn at 10am at my GP's office. The receptionist had no idea when they'd be back. When I told her what it was for, she seemed to agree with me that it shouldnt take long. But said to call on Monday morning for them..

I'm VERY impatient and I was hoping to find out today!! Mainly coz I've had 2 chemical pg's in our 5months of TTC..

Do you think there's a chance I could get my results today? Maybe if I call GP back at 5pm?

I'm pretty sure I got the results on the same day with DD - but I went to pathology at 8:20am that time...

Hello everyone,

I have a father silly question... I have not had my hair cut in about 6 months so it is just below my shoulders... I am feeling really frumpy as i am in that wonderful 12 weekish stage where i have a bump but no one would dare ask me if i'm preg yet. .. lol

I have a wedding to go to tonight and didn't budget for a hair cut this week but i really want my hair cut. I just hate feeling frumpy and only tying it back...

What i am worried about is that i will hate it. I have noticed the ability to change my mind at the drop of a hat in the past week. (like driving for half an hour last night to cold rock then getting there cracking it they had no chocolate icecream left and drove home)

has anyone had their hair cut when preg and then regretted it almost straight away??

To give others hope after bad NT scan/blood test result

Hi, I'm new here, I just wanted to give anyone out there some hope if they are going through what we have just been through. At our 12 week NT scan we were told everything looked great, then the sonographer came back with the blood test results and said I had low PAPP-A and hcg and therefore we were in the high risk range for Trisomy 18 (1/103). We were both shocked and horrified that there could be something wrong, you always hope it won't be you, especially after doing a bit too much internet research. They told us to come back for a 16 week scan which would tell us if there were any major abnormalities associated with the disorder. It was a very very long 3 week wait. To cut a long story short I am now 24 weeks pregnant and 4 scans later there are no detectable abnormalities and the consultant tells us it is very very unlikely that our baby has T18. We declined the amnio because they couldn't see anything wrong (and should be able to if it were) and we didn't want the additional risk but I will continue to have regular scans to check growth - another explanation for the low PAPP-A levels - but all is looking good so far. After many tears to start with we are now looking forward to the March arrival of our (hopefully) healthy second baby boy!

it is sooo hot here in Darwin and as i have not long lived here, im finding the heat/humidty a killer.

so i was wondering what are you doing to keep cool???
i already try and drink lots of fluids and even make them icy.

what clothes do u find the coolest?? i went out for dinner last night and felt really uncomfortable in everything, all my clothes felt like they were clinging and i just felt so hot and sticky despite just having a cold shower even a dress felt like i was dressed for winter

argh someone make me cool again i nearly die just doing basic house work. i do it early am or late at night just so its a bit cooler.
we also run fans and aircons through out the hottest part of the day.

your input/ ideas are appreciated

well with my first the lmp date and the scan date were 3 weeks apart. lmp date was 3rd sept, went into labour the 5th and gave birth the 7th (scan date was the 21st sept)
i had a good doctor who went with my lmp date as she said the dates were too far apart.

this time my lmp date is the 24th may next year and my scan date is the 22nd june... but i live over an hour away from where i used to live and the doctor i went and saw this time wants to go with the scan date. (this time i am breastfeeding a 14 month old but had 3 regular periods before my lmp)

my main concern is - what if i didn't go into labour naturally and the placenta stops being good enough - or is that not going to happen? could you ever not go into labour or do all women go into labour eventually when its time?? i should know this being my second pregnancy but i had such a good dr last time i didn't have to really even think about it. sorry if i sound really dumb and thanks for your advice in advance!!

I am just over 32wks and up until now have been quite comfortable with my PG and dealing with DD, everyone says i make it look so EASY.
I keep getting the normal questions about how i think i will cope with DD and Zara (trying to make it stick) once she's here, i have no false vision that it's going to be easy.
I know it's going to be hard, tiring and probably stressful.

But more and more now i am getting the questions about whether or not i think i will cope well during labour, i have told people i am not scared of the 'physical' pain as i really don't remember much with DD's birth but i am more worried my little girl will come too quick and cause other complications.
People just say "oh really, your not at all scared of the pain, i suppose after DD's birth you will prob find this EASY"
One girl at MG told me how EASY i had it when i had DD as i managed well without drugs and can't remember the pain, i just want to scream:

*I WAS ALONE ON A BATHROOM FLOOR WITH FEET HANGING OUT OF ME I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH CHOICE!*

These aren't the only EASY comments getting to me, DD is generally very well behaved, mostly smiling unless sick and has slept through since quite young (well most of the time, not so much a couple of weeks back).
I don't tend to complain to SIL or MG when she doesn't sleep through, theres not much point as we all go through it BUT again a girl at MG said it will be so easy for you as DD is such an EASY baby and you NEVER have problems with her..... umm no i just don't complain about them.

SIL told me she hopes Zara (they don't know the name... lol) is a pain in the butt as i have it so EASY with DD and then i will know what it's really like.:shakehead: yep she said it to my face!
WTF it's not MY fault her 5yr old still wakes over night, it's not MY fault her 3yr old only grunts at people and still wakes over night.
Ok so i don't complain about DD but it doesn't mean she's perfect and she's far from it, she has a right little attitude and can be VERY sooky and i had about 2mths of her waking 3times a night and about 2wks of her ending up in my bed.
Do i need to go places and whinge like nothing just so ppl think i have a normal child.

It's not EASY for anyone and we all have our challenges, why is it a competition?

Sorry i needed to get that off my chest, if i don't now i will SCREAM and as i get closer these comments are just coming more frequently.

Oh and for anyone that is intrigued about DD's birth: http://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums/birth-stories/107733-avas-unexpected-breach-home-birth.html

Hi Ladies,

I posted a couple of days ago about my spotting.
I got my BT results today and my levels are still doubling.
My qs is, I still have the bleeding, it's not as heavy as a period, i don't have any cramps, if im miscarrying will my hcg continue to rise?
Also if im miscarrying at 6 and 1/2 weeks should i have cramps, last MC was 9 weeks and excruciating.
Has anyone here had Bleeding everyday and still had their pregnancy continue?
I am going for an U/S tomorrow so i guess i will know then but just wanted to hear from anyone who has experienced this?

I am not sure if this is the right spot so feel free to move it.
I am 31wks pregnant, and the whole pregnancy I have had very little appetite. I read online and in preg books about the importance of eating certain foods but to be honest I am eating about 1/4 of what I was before pregnant. Baby is fine and right size/weight etc, I had very little in the way of morning sickness and have had a very smooth and trouble free pregnancy, but the majority of the time the thought of steak or fish and vegies (especially greens) makes me queasy and I have trouble eating certain things so to speak. I am not starving myself and I am eating, but not as much as 'the books' say I should be. Has anyone else experienced this?

My name is Sammi and I am brand new to this site - or any pregnancy site as a matter of fact !

I have been reading some of the posts and have become really confused by all the acronyms and abbreviations that most people use such as DD, DS, DH..?

I haven't been able to find anywhere on the site that details what these mean, and so am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction?

I know it probably sounds silly and I should probably be able to work it out for myself, but I am having trouble.

Thanks for any feedback !

She was in the NICU for only 2 days and is hopefully coming home with me tomorrow. My labour was a crazy 16 hours!! I will write up my birth story soon.

Despite my usual excellent organisational skills, it seems some stuff has gotten a bit away from me. The revelation that I am 36 weeks today has hit me somewhat. mmmmm...

I was reading 'Up the Duff' but stopped for no real reason when the book got to 22 weeks. Last night I pulled it out and started reading. I guess it just made it more real.

So, in order to be honest, here is a pretty comprehensive of stuff I haven't done. Some of this has to get done and some just isn't really gonna happen.

Pregnancy
- Pelvic floor exercises - I never really got into the routine of them. I have started now, twice a day using a podcast that I listen to when I am in the car. It guides me through a 5 minute routine. However my dream of being a total legend at them is kinda out the window.
- Regular exercise - Before getting pregnant I used to go to the gym 3 times a week, twice with a personal trainer. Indeed, I attribute my exercise to my getting pregnant in the first place. However since getting preg that has gone out the window. I was very sick in the first trimester (continual vomiting, trips to hosp for dehydration) and never got back into it. I once went to a class at my local gym, but that really hurt so never went back.

Labour / Hospital
- Hypnotherapy - Despite knowing the benefits of this, I just haven't got the hang of it. I have two main tracks that I should be listening to. However I end up falling asleep about half way through.
- Baby bag - Haven't packed this, haven't thought about it. I don't think I have a big tshirt for labour that I am happy to lose if we can't get it clean again. Might have to go shopping.

Post baby
- Food stock up - Every book / pamphlet says I should cook food to stock up so we aren't worried about cooking when baby comes. At the moment I barely have enough food to cook at that moment, let alone cook in advance.
- Normal doubts - will I cope, how will it all work etc - not much I can do about this one, but still plays on my mind.

My husband is away from Sun to Thurs, then again Sun to Thurs next week. I think this has made me feel anxious and is probably contributing to all of these issues.

Anyway, that's me. Off to have a bit of a teary now.

So any of you in Adelaide will know that we are suffering through a heatwave. It is in the high 30s and has been since.... oh, so long I can't remember. (maybe a week? 6 days?)

I'm coping as best as I can. I'm blowing out my carbon footprint running the aircon. The washing is being hung out at night time and I'm actually dressed and out of the house early to do shopping or other essential outings.

Of course polite conversations with people at the shops are all about how hot it is. But then they look at my bump and say "oh, it must be so much worse for you!"

Um, I don't know? I can't remove the bump and see if it is cooler without it. This drove me nuts last time I was pregnant. This baby is due a week before DD was and with DD I got so many comments about how hot I would be because my third trimester coincided with summer.

So great things about being pregnant during summer....

I don't need to buy lots of maternity clothes, esp jumpers, jackets.
I'm wearing much more revealing, tight clothes. Cos I have a reason for my stomach sticking out.
Swimming is such relief when you are big and uncomfortable.
My leg hair pretty much stops growing when I'm pregnant. Very convenient for summer.
I don't have to worry about christmas weight gain and january diets.

And the main thing is that I'm growing a baby. That is more important.

C/S Scar - turning red again?

Hi,

I'm a bit concerned because my C/S scar looks like it's turning red again, whereas for probably 18 months or so it's just been a faint, thin, white line, no keloid or anything. I'm really hoping for a VBAC, but a little paranoid about the whole C/S rupture thing, which I know isn't all that common, but it does happen. Is it normal for C/S scars to change like this or is it a bad sign?

TIA

RH Negative and Spotting :(

Hey girls,

I posted over the weekend about spotting i've been having. I've had spotting every day since and today i actually had some red blood, i'm only 5 1/2 weeks. But i was thinking today i remember when i miscarried last time i had to have an injection because my blood is negative and my hubby's blood is positive. Could there be issues with me spotting at the moment that i need to have another injection?
I'm praying i don't lose this baby, i hear it's really common, i didn't have this spotting at all last time. What should i do? I don't wana go to the hospital as last time my doc sent me the triage nurse laughed at me and questioned me being there!

Hi girls,

I found out i was preg a few days ago. Before i tested i'd had light spotting which the doctor said was most likely implantation. I've felt fine the past few days, the usual MS and tiredness but no cramps or anything. Today i have just noticed i am spotting again, last time it was, sorry if TMI but watery and brownish and now it's pink and watery, no cramps. I'm afraid i'm going to lose this one too. Has anyone experienced this around 5-6 weeks and had a healthy bub? Is there anything i should do? If it's not a threatened miscarriage what else could it be?
Thanks ladies xox

Will phone radiation do harm to my baby?

I am 24 weeks pregnant now. It is the first baby for my husband and me. Several days ago, he bought a little stuff for me and my baby from Itunes Store. An iphone app specially designed for babies and moms-to-be.

The name is prenatal lullabies. We played it on my iphone that day. The music is very gentle and the instruction shows that those music have positive benefit to fetal development.

Personally speaking, I like listening to it very much. But my doctor suggest me be far from my phone and computer. He said radiation has bad effect on fetus. But some said it doesn?t have. I am wondering whether I should play prenatal lullabies for my baby on iphone or not.

I really like the music in it.
