I'm look for a decent female OB for my next pregnancy, even though I'm not UTD yet.
I had a problematic pregnancy and what would be classed as a traumatic birth with DS, and was told that I'd probably be classed as high risk and/or need a C-section again with the next pregnancy so I'm trying to find someone that I will like and trust as my old OB (Dr. Langford) has retired from practice here in Australia and has gone overseas to volunteer in Tibet.

So if anyone knows of any decent female OB's or OB's-in-training in the Latrobe Valley, East or West Gippsland area's, please let me know.

Also, I don't trust Dr Sakar/Sarkar(sp?) who practices at the Sale hospital as she prescribed me medication that I was allergic to (she prescribed it AFTER looking through my notes) after my C-section with DS, so please don't suggest her.

Thanks in advance guys.

I had Dr Roshan Shamon as my Obstetrician for my second baby. He was fantastic. His bedside manners were excellent. For our first child I saw another Obstetrician. I was very disappointed with the service I received. This time I received the full attention I wanted and I was not rushed into making any decisions. I will recommend him to anyone who is looking for an Obstetrician in the South-Eastern suburbs.

Looking for an OB who will not automatically put me on the conveyor belt towards a repeat CS! Am going public hospital (Monash) with private OB.

Anyone experienced or heard of Ravi Kashyap or John Regan and VBAC? Tried Dennis Price but he is away when I am due. Also tried Danielle Wilkins but she only does Jessie Mac.

Hi! New and looking for Murdoch WA Obs

Hi all!:D

Thought I would join up as I read in one of the forums that bellybelly has to monitor the feedback about the obstetricians due to legal reasons - ie so all that is allowed to be posted in forums is positive feedback...

So, in saying this, anyone who has had or knows of Dr Colin Blair who delivers at SJOG Murdoch, I would love some feedback via PM please. (everyone can be honest via PM!).

Constructive feedback would be great, ie personality type, attention to detail, what you liked most and least etc.

Why does choosing an Ob have to be so hard?!

Oh, also, if you have any experiences on mid-wife/Ob shared care with any of the Obs at Murdoch and where to start looking for mid-wives for this purpose?

(My first choice for Ob was Dr Chris Nichols, but he's going on leave when i'm due! )

I guess any feedback on the Obs that deliver at Murdoch would be great! I'm hoping to find one that isnt about to retire in a year or two!

Anyone in Perth having the same dilemmas at the moment?

Hi I'm new to this website (and pregnancy)
Wondering if anyone has any feedback on Dr O'Rourke in Canberra?

I'm 7 weeks and already the female Obstetricians are booked out.

I would prefer to deliver in Calvary (or John James). My other option was Dr Tam Sim Hom. (which I've read some good feedback on from this site)

Thanks

Hi everyone

I am going to be 17.5 weeks on 31st Dec. Is it going to be possible to claim back from medicare the 20 week management fee from medicare before the safety net changes. My saftey net is already up to $700 so we will get a fair bit of it back if we pay it prior to dec 31. I have asked 4 different people at medicare and noone can give me a straight answer and they have all said something different. One even said it is still in front of the senate and they can't comment.

As this is our first baby we are not sure how this fee structure works and if there is some kind of proof you take with you to medicare to prove you are further along than 20 weeks.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but we are very confused and medicare don't seem to know

I know I am getting a head of myself as I am not even UTD, but I LOVE to be organised and I love to do my research!

I would really love some suggestions of high risk OBS in Melbourne, especially if you know the OBS has experience with patients who have mental health isssue. Having General Anxiety disorder and OCD I would love and OBS that has a great knowledge and understanding of this and that I would feel comfortable with.

When I finally become UTD I would love to deliver at Frances Perry, Freemasons or Cabrini!

Thanks Ladies!:D

Hi all,
I am new to Newcastle and am TCC was looking for a recommendation for an obstetrician. My fund lists 4 as no gap specialists (but I dont really know what this means..:shakehead: i am still doing my research!)
The Drs listed are:
Andrew Hedges
Alan Henson
Gregory Hicks
Gerald Lawson
Is there anyone who has had any experience or heard of any of these Obs? I find Its hard to get recommendations, so am hoping this will be a start for me. Any info greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone!

I have just discovered I am pregnant again, I'm so pleased!!! My last birth was at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and it was truly awful...it's a long story but suffice to say that I had a rapid delivery and despite my medical history and Ob's notes (my first baby was rapid and just under 3 hours), the midwives didn't believe I was in labour and refused to give me gas... until a senior midwife noticed I was crowning, but of course by then it was all too late to give me any pain relief. The labour was under an hour. It was awful having to beg in a weak voice, in between contractions, "can somebody please give me some gas". The midwives were so nasty, and just after I had delivered, they left me and my husband and baby alone in the room and I started to shake uncontrollably (I was going into shock) and I had to ask my husband to get me a blanket.... I could go on, but it was truly awful and totally unnecessary. I was completely devalued as a pregnant mother and despite my telling them again and again I was in labour, they continued to dismiss me, rolling their eyes at me.

So, I'm now expecting my third child and I expect this will be another rapid delivery because that's what my birthing history tells me.... and am hoping to find a great OB at the Wesley who will be able to support me.

Can anyone suggest such an OB?

I do have a lovely OB at the Royal Brisbane who saw me through my last pregnancy and is more than happy to help me delivery this bub, but she only delivers at the Royal Brisbane but I don't know if I can bring myself to going back there after the way I was treated. She promises to be there to deliver, but I worry, 'what if the midwives don't bother contacting her and what if the same scenario plays out?' If I had listened to the midwives dismissing me last time, I definitely would've given birth to my baby in the car on the way home. It was so distressing, surely I can't afford to allow them to treat me the same way again??!

Any advice would be soooo much appreciated!!

thanks all :-)

PS I just want to say thanks to MantaRay for responding! I've tried to 'reply' but for some reason I'm told I don't have privileges for that (?).
Anyway, a big THANK YOU to MantaRay :-)

Public for antinatal care Private for delivery?????

Hi everyone,

Just hoping to pick your brains for advice. Now that medicare are changing it's safety net by removing obstetrics from jan 1, DH and I can't really afford to have my anti natal care by private OB. We have private health insurance and I really wanted to deliver at South Eastern Private Hosp, which we will have no out of pockets there (I work for my health insurance company so this is confirmed).

So what I was wondering if anyone else has had their maintenance of preg done by GP but then delivered privately. I know that I will need to ensure that OB that delivers baby will not charge a huge OOP and aneithasist but aside from this, we could save a couple thousand $$$ doing it this way...

what do you think?
