Default Private Childbirth Education Classes

Below are some links to private childbirth education classes which have great reviews. Private classes are SO much better than hospital classes as they are more detailed and spend time on covering working with pain and your support partner, so he/she can feel more confident. Check them out - you will be glad you did.

MELBOURNE

Birthing Wisdom, Rhea Dempsey in Fairfield (my teacher - great classes and specialises on pain aspect)

"Transforming Pain in Labour." Discover what to expect and how to deal with it through dynamic labour rehearsal, breathing, movement, sound release and support strategies. Explore psychological and relationship dynamics which affect birthing potential. Identify, reframe and transform your relationship with pain. Learn how to work with pain to connect with your instinctive birthing self.

-- Just a side note, I spoke to one dad-to-be after going to one of these sessions and he was very skeptical at first, said he thought it would be all airy fairy, but at the end of it was smiling and very happy to have gone as he found it to be very informative and useful.

Birth, Di Diddle in North Fitzroy

Cycles of 4 sessions starting February 12th, April 16th, June 18th, August 27th and November 12th. Topics include the Ins and Outs of Birth, The Power and the Pain, The Birth Partner and Rock-a-Bye Baby.

About Birth, Jules Brooks and Lael Stone in Middle Park

Sessions starting 4th February, 4th March, 8th April, 13th May, 17th June.

Our workshops run from 9.30am to 5.30pm and cover the physical aspects of birth, practical ways to support your partner, tools to work with pain, emotional and psychological factors within birth and baby's arrived - now what?

We pride ourselves on using interactive learning with film, multi media presentations, physical role plays and audience participation. We create a relaxed atmosphere that is filled with laughter and sharing to benefit the learning of all our couples.

I can personally recommend all of these educators, I know them all well and they are great women - you are guaranteed good classes from all of them.

If you can't get to any classes, or even if you can, I recommend that you look at The Pink Kit which is a DVD/CD combination to view in your own home. It teaches you many things that most classes don't teach, a unique birth preparation course which teaches you how to distinguish your own unique pelvis shape and how to work with it to your advantage, as well as working with pain and the inner voices that tell you that you can't do it! I have just been watching this with a client of mine and it's brilliant, she's getting lots out of it too. Its very interesting and lots of stuff for dads.
