| | VBA2C Experienced Doula Brisbane
I have now had 2 CS. The first one I went into premature labour at 28 weeks with twins, I was 19, told I needed a CS, so just said ok.
I was so prepared for a natural, drug free labour with my second baby, but ended up at 9cm getting a CS. (Head was transverse and I was not progressing, even when using Syntosin). After over 24 hours of full on contractions all my rational thoughts went out the window and I just said "whatever". I am so dissapointed now and I cry every time I read about a seccessful natural or VBAC birth.
I really need someone in Brisbane that can get me my natural birth for my next baby (I am not pregnant yet). I am really happy with the Royal Womens, but I keep hearing, from various staff, that I'll have a hard time finding someone who will do a VBA2C for me.
Has anyone had a VBA2C at the Royal in Brisbane? Or know of a very experienced doula who can almost guarantee (I know there's no real guarantee) me a natural birth?
Thanks so much.

Joey, I'm a trainee doula and my first training birth is trying for a VBA2C at Caboolture... She's copping a lot of cr** from the doctors although the middies are very supportive. She's due in Jan/Feb so I'll let you know how it goes - any tips etc that I learn from it - just remember that they can't actually stop you - they can recommend strongly against it but have no legal grounds to prevent you from trying, provided you are informed of the risks.
A doula will definitely help (especially if she's experienced with VBACs!) but anyone willing to stand up and advocate for you will make a difference!

Hey, I had no idea you were doing your training. Good on you!
Yes, pleeeese let me know how it goes.
t's good to hear that they can't stop you. If that's the case, I'll get a doula that's done lots of VBA2Cs before and is very very pushy and I don't see how I can go wrong. I started a VBA2C fund (savings account) today, so I am depositing $10 a week until the birth of my next baby, so I will have no problems in parting with the money to buy me a great doula!

Honestly, you have more chance of achieving a VBA2C at home than you do in a Hospital.
I wish you all the best!

VERY VERY VERY good idea. I wonder though if my stress levels would go up though cause I wasn't in a hospital. But then, I'm only 10 mins drive away and it would take me that long to get to theatre if needed anyway. Still, I think I would be nervous. But I would love that. Perhaps if I had a really good midwife, then I would feel confident. Hmmm. Definately food for thought. Thanks for the idea.

Where do I find out if there's a midwife experienced in VBA2C's? And how much they cost, etc?

You wouldn't have anything to be stressed about hun. You would be recieveing optimal, one-to-one Midwifery care from a Midwife who has so much faith in your body and your ability to birth your baby normally.
As you say, if anything were to veer from the normal, then you are only 10mins away from intervention.
As for costs etc, most Independent Midwives charge around the $4000 mark. You can find a list of Midwives in the area on the Home Midwifery Association (QLD) website. You could also post a thread in the Homebirthing Forum asking those who have already homebirthed in the area.
If you need any other info, let me know!
