There is a colon irrigation clinic 5 minutes up the road from work.

Does it hurt? I mean when they insert the hose.

I've got IBS too which causes chronic constipation. Nothing works. I might have to pay a visit.

TD, I'd be interested in the answer as well. I think CI is meant to be really gentle and a great way to do a bit of a 'spring clean.'

I considered it after my IVF stim cycle, cause all the hormones backed me up, but I wasn't allowed to because I might have been pregnant at the time. I was actually disappointed to not be allowed to do it and hope I'll have the chance in the future.

I say give it a go...and let me know what it's like!

I think it sounds great. I haven't had one, but reading all the comments, I think it would be a good idea. If anyone knows if there are in places in SE Vic that do it and are recommended, let me know!

Gosh - I have always wanted to do this!! If I didn't live in the middle of nowhere then I probably would have got it done. Not sure that DH would want to go for a trip to the city just for this though!

Please Turkish Delight, let us know how you go?

I had a couple of sessions a few years back. After the first one I felt great - relaxed, refreshed etc and my skin looked fantastic (all the extra hyrdration plumped out my wrinkles ).
The 2nd session was not so good. I think she had the temp up just a bit too much. She said it was normal but I felt like I got burnt and half way through I asked her to stop cause I knew I was about to explode out my rear end which once I got to the loo I did! It was`nt a very pleasant experience that 2nd time and so I didnt go back again.

I cant remember the costs but it was pricey.
I dont think I lost any weight.
And no, it dont hurt, and you dont need to feel that awkward cause its their job, so they know what they have gotten themselves into.
I also saw the person who did mine in the street a month later. We were both with other people and I out of habit and politeness went to say hi, and she (rightly so) ignored me totally.

Hmm, perhaps I will go do it again sometime. Very expensive though. I`d rather spend the money on something else right now.

I think I'd be keen to give it a crack... but I have such a high fibre diet, I swear there'd be nothing left up there as is!

My sis lives in Bangalow, so maybe I should give you a yell next time I'm in town, Emma...

I actually had one when I was a child. I had a persistant pain in my side and all the doctors said that I was making it up. Mum took me to a naturopath who recommended an IC and the result was a golf ball size of worms got removed from a pocket in my bowel..end of pain.

I don't think it hurt but I did feel humiliated..

BrisVegas! I actually know Mullum really well, used to visit a bit as a teenager, had family there.

Might be down that way tomorrow! Depending on sister's plans...

There use to be a show on Austar (can't remember the name of show) and it was about a woman (some sort of specialist) who would look into the foods of people with shocking diets then ask them to go have a poo then she would examine it in her laboratory (omg, why am i laughing right now typing this) anyway, she would tell these clients about there poo and one time she did get a male client to get his ' system ' flushed out & they showed the cr@p going down this thick clear tube that you could see ' everything', yukkkk .... BUT he didn't look uncomfortable !!

I have actually had a colonic irrigation done, it doesnt hurt at all, you can feel the water entering and every 10 seconds or so you have to push, pretty much like when your having a baby. I had it done when i worked for a company that dealt with cancer patients. They had all kinds of natural alternatives to treating cancer and other illnesses. I wanted my hubby to do this because i thought it would help him, but later found out that because he has chrons disease(bowel disease) he wasnt allowed, it might actually make his situation worse. You can see what comes out on the side, as you push you see all the water come out,I didnt have anything come out when i did it, it all came out clear but i was supposed to have it done again.

OMG how can you have 7 kg of undigested food inside you??? Doesn't it take about 12-24 hours to fully digest and pass through your system? We don't eat 7 kgs of food a day... surely???

Td- have you had this done yet??? Am thinking of doing it soon too. I have a sluggish bowl and am personally getting fed up with having to take something to help me along. I was looking at a place in St.kilda which costs $390 for 6 sessions

Nope haven't done it and don't think i'll get it done for some time now. If i need to lie on my tummy, then definitely no. My new boobies aren't adjusted to tummy sleep/lie down at the moment. I can barely sleep on my side.
