Default question about clomid

Just wondering how many people have been on this fertility medication and what the success outcome is??
as iv been prescribed clomid and will be starting it in the next few weeks also how many have had a multiple birth as the chances are higher whilst on the med.

Hi
I did a month on clomid 100mg and nothing then did a month on 150mg and BINGO - I'm now 20 weeks preggers!
I think its great only side effect for me was blurry vision at night when I took it as you sleep through the bad stuff
its like a 10% chance i believe of multiple pregnancies but its mostly twins, i have not known any one to have them yet but hey.
I'd say go for it, its a great drug

Hey Everyone,
I was diagnosed with PCOS a few weeks ago and my dr wants to start me on clomid. I was still in shock when he was explaining everything to me (wasn't expecting it - no sysptoms - im not overweight, no acne and very regular but light AF). He told me to start taking clomid on the second day of my period...but....I forgot to ask him with my AF I usually spot for a few days before AF arrives. And AF is always very small and usually only last two days. Do I start taking clomid on the day after spotting? Very confused.

tmg my fertility specialist has also just prescribed clomid for me. She said that the first day of your period is the first day of proper flow (not spotting) that begins anytime before midnight.

She told me to have sex every second day starting on day 10 up until day 18.

hope it works for you!

wannabub, I didn't have any luck with clomid (and had terrible side effects), but my BFF (who has PCOS) has her DD thanks to clomid! When I was taking it I generally only had one follicle (ie only produced one egg) so wasn't at much risk of multiples. Since my IF is "unexplained" and I O on my own I was only on 50mg. If you have PCOS you're more likely to produce multiple follicles which is why the Drs normally start you on a low dose and gradually increase it if it doesn't work first go...

kattykitty, I'd recommend some way of monitoring when/if you O'd (other than his blood test - it will tell him if you O'd). I recorded BBT's when I was on clomid to see when/if I O'd, but you could also use OPK's. Just keep in mind the temperatures can be a bit screwy when you're actually taking teh clomid, but you can usually still clearly see the temperature shift to indicate O. Normally you will O 5-10 days after the last tablet, but some women O as early as 4 days after and some O much, much later. And for some it just doesn't work (usually just means a higher dose is required). For my 3 cycles I O'd 7, 11 and 7 days after the last tablet (day 14, 18 and 14 of my cycles), respectively. The blood test he said to come back for really should be done at 7dpo (to test progesterone levels). It sounds to me like he's assuming you'll have a textbook cycle. If you stick with his plan I'd just recommend that you have sex more often than just the one day you mentioned. If it were me, I'd start on that day and keep it up every second day for about a week.

GL to all of you!
