Default Hope the persistence sticks with him for life!

I know there are a couple of girls in this forum who have similarly difficult sleepers. DS is 9.5 months old and never been a great sleeper. Today we embarked on a "plan" with a no controlled crying sleep consultant, and day one we teach him to lay down. And lay down. And lay down.

I kid you not, he barely had time to draw breath after being laid down and he was on his belly and crawling to the edge of the cot. I stopped counting at 100 times (he paused for 3 or 4 seconds at number 69, 74 and 83). At nearly an hour of laying down his arms got tired and he resorted to crawling around. At an hour and 15 mins he was just rolling around LOL. And playing peekaboo with his blanket - not amused!! Well, maybe just a little bit

After nearly 2 hours of laying down, back rubbing and patting (when he was still enough) he finally yawned, rolled over and went to sleep.

All of this without one single tear or grizzle.

So I hope DS can take this persistence with him into adulthood, he'll surely be successful at whatever he decides to do! LOL

Thought you girls would feel my pain though, and thank god he's finally asleep!!

Wow, good for you!

We have just embarked on the self settling technique under the adivce of a CHN and we have gone from 15 minutes to 2 minutes settling time in 3 days!!!! Day naps aren't so good, but hey I'm happy with the nights!!!!

Hope it gets better for you, 2 hours is a long time!!!

at your persistence!!

Sounds like he wasn't worn out before getting to bed - and the laying down 600 times did the trick!

Sorry, but I couldn't help have a smile at your story - sounds a bit familiar sometimes

We'll get there! He's worse than he once was so I know he's capable of it

He only had just under 2 hours of day naps today, and was rubbing his eyes just before bed. Also had a big day with the cousins. He *was* worn out little bugger - he's just stubborn! Wonder where he gets that from?

Don't worry I was smiling too - he was doing everything except sleep... pull his feet out of his suit, pulling his blanket over his head, bashing the mattress in time with my patting. What can you do but laugh? Hope I can maintain that perspective at 3am when he's woken haha.
