I know! After the initial resettle at 40 mins he cried out 2 or 3 times, and I barged in ready to say "good mooooorning moopy!" and he was asleep again LOL

The lady I spoke to at the hire place said they often don't work for older babies, but I figured given his propensity to sleep in the pram and sling it might still work for us. I've hired for one month, and given it's still working I'll do it for another 3 - still much cheaper than buying one

When I was looking for a place here in Melbourne a Perth place kept coming up - google baby hammock hire in australia - hope it helps you!

Not sure how long he'll keep it up, but while he's happy I'm happy

Tish

Tish,

I just wanted to say thank you so much for starting this post!! I've really been struggling with my DD's sleep habits (or lack thereof...) and the advice provided in this post has been fantastic. Not only that, it's such a comfort to know that other mums are struggling/have struggled with this and survived!!!

It's so nice (not to mention IMPORTANT!!) to pull together as mums and support each other, coz raising a child is damn hard, let alone raising a non-sleeper!! And I'm so glad to read the comment about enjoying toddlerhood more than babyhood, coz I've been feeling like an atrocious mother for wishing these early days away until DD sleeps. I have a beautiful 9 month old, but have felt like such a failure so many times for not enjoying it as much as I should.

Our sleep issues may be far from over, but reading posts like these really really help, so thank you also to everyone who replied.

Thanks again Tish, so glad to hear your little one is getting some much needed sleep, and I hope you are enjoying life a little more too.
