| | help ds has chicken pox.
Hi all,
Well its been confirmed today that my poor 6 yr old DS has chicken pox. Today is his first day of them and he hasnt been to bad. Its hot here 33 degrees so I'm basically trying to keep him cool.
He suffers in the heat and always gets heat rashes so i'm trying to avoid this. He also has hyper sensitivity so he doesnt like loud sounds, strong smells and different textures.
I have just put him in a bath with pinetarsil and he started crying because of the smell.
Is there anything i can do to stop the itch, he has had some antihistamines .
thanks
Tania

Maybe some calomine lotion as well? Pinetarsol does have a weird smell, your poor little DS.

| | Poor baby. My DD2 had chicken pox at 6 months. I gave her bi carb baths, rubbed corn flour all over after the bath & calamine as needed. Will he wear gloves or socks on his hands to stop him scratching?

A handful of rolled oats in the bath can work wonders - but he might not like that? If not tie some up in a stocking or cloth and throw that in the bath with him. No smell there!

I was going to say rolled oats too, or baking soda / bi carb in the bath.
Calamine afterwards, as often as needed.... also lavender essential oil is supposed to help but the smell might not work for him.

dermaveen sells a product called bath treatment which is for the chicken pox! I bought it for my kids when they had it, they didnt sound as bad as your ds, i hope he feels better soon, we used the spray on calamine lotion too and panadol.
