Smile Our gift from above, Evangeline Lilli

On the 21st November 2008, i lost my little princess Lilli. She was 5mths 1wk old, and SIDS took her away from us They say the world works in strange ways, as it so happened that the following wk my husband was booked in for the snip, we cancelled this appointment.

Me and my husband decided to try and start in January for a baby. I didn't want to try at all in Feb/March as the dud ate would be to close to Lilli's anniverasy. But lucky enough for us, we fell 1st try . The night we actually fell pregnant i had Lilli's ashes in our bedroom.

After a very good good pregnacy, except for constant BH, i had my first indication of labour at 36+2 wks.

21st September - which actually meant that Lilli passed away 10mths ago I was 36+ 2wks. After a very emtional day, my husband gets home and i was very sore. Around 4pm i started getting conractions, so at 5pm we go to the hospital. After a long night my contractions just stopped and i only dialetd to 1cm, grrr. So i go home with my Ob telling me, ill see you soon, pffft.

5th October - Late monday arvo i started leaking pink coloured mucus. Thats how labour started with Ethan.

6th October - grrr woke up still pregnant, 38+2wks. Was still leaking lots of pink mucus, but felt pretty good. I had my Ob's appointment in the morning, though the poor woman got called to delivery twice whilst i was there. Doc said all was good, my belly actually grew 2cm from last wk, she thought baby was already a good 7-7 /2 pound.
After seeing Ob, we go do some shopping, then i go home for a little nanna nap.
My husband orders takeaway, as i just didn't feel like cooking.

At around 6.30-7pm, my MIL turns up with a pretty dress for bubba. Just as she was leaving, bang i get a contraction. I yell to my husband that it might be a good idea for her to take Ethan. After a couple more contractions, with the lovely feeling of my pelvis feeling like it was being slowly broken, i ring the hospital to let them know.
We get there around 7.30 - 8pm, where i get hooked up to the machine to check contrcations, bubba's heart rate etc... She was very content in there, her HB was perfect, she just didn't move much. At 9pm my Ob gets to the hospital, the poor lady has had one very busy day. After an internal im 5cm dialted I was completly shocked!!! I honestly didn't expect to be that far. My Ob breaks my waters right then for me, she said "we aint going to let it stop this time". She also notes the baby's head is at +1, so nice and low.
Anyway i get up after about 10mins of just sitting there, still feeling ok.
Around 9.30 the pains are getting a bit painful, so i hop into the bath. Then i use my bowels. Was very very embrassed!!!
After 30mins in the water my pains were getting very painful, i looked up at the time, its was 10.19. I thought, hmm she may come by midnight I then decided i really needed some drugs, so i got some gas.
10 minutes later the midwive suggested i hop out as she would like to check me. She says cervix has still a little to go, its very thin, and baby's head was extremly low.
Being out of the water killed, i asked her to get me something stronger, so she went and got the pethdine.
I then started to yell at my husband that i couldn't do it, it hurts to much. It was then i looked up at Lillis pic of her cheeky smile starring at me. Yep i could do this i said to myself. I guess this was the transition side of labour.
Then once again i use my bowels, poor midwives.
Midwive comes back in, she cleans my mess up then gives me the pethdine. She then walks out.
Just then with the next contraction I could feel baby crowning, that lovely burning feeling i was all so scared off. I was in shock i think, i was holding down there trying to stop it and I screamed "get the doctor". Lucky she was only just outside and heard me. She walks in and tells me its ok just go with it. I relaxed agian and here her say "oh here comes the head". My husband still can't get over it, as he said all he did was turn his head to the doctor, then back again, then plop, Evangeline was out. I pushed for only 40sec!!!!!

I ended up with no tears or grazes, but 15mins after she was born the pethadine finally hit in Guess i really didn't need it after all.

Evangeline came out 100% perfect. She had no marks on her, not even a swaollen head. I was so worried that the cord would be around her neck, like when Lilli came, but she was crying which meant she was perfect. She was actually smaller then what my Ob had predicted earlier that day, and smaller then what my other 2 have been, even though i had her later then them.

I truely do believe that Evangeline is our gift from Lilli, and know that she was there with me throughout everything. Evangeline's name means "Bearer of Good news" in that she is!!! Daddy has already nicknamed her Angel. So i now have 2 angels, one above and one earth bound

Your a very strong woman and welcome to the world Evangeline, what a beautiful story!
I'm sure Lilli will watch over and protect her for many years to come.

I had a brother pass of SIDS and found out i was PG with my DD on the 20th anniversary of his death, at one stage i was due to have her on his 21st birthday.
I have no doubt in my mind he is my daughters guardian angel and a little part of him is inside of her, i hope you can feel this in your brand new blessing!

Congrats again!
