sooo if I happen to not agree to everyone else, I cannot contribute my opinion and be a part of the discussion, despite it being what a forum is for?

Hannah-banana you are most definitely entitled to your opinion but it Kelly mentioned should be kept out of this thread as it defeats the purpose of it's intention. To inform those of us that are passionate and are interested in the rally.
If you have a differing opinion you may like to share it in the homebirth forum (i don't know where else would be appropriate really), however keep in mind BellyBelly is a community that promotes the ideals of natural and non-medicalised birth ... so it's something a lot of us will fight for.

I would advise against contributing an 'against' argument in the Homebirth thread, please. It's a forum for those of us who share homebirthing stories or want to read about how to have one. We get enough dissenting views in everyday life and from un-related visits to GP's without having 'our space' taken over by an opposing view. The general birth section can probably be used, but the Homebirth section is not for this purpose.

I'm confused, Hannah, given that you haven't posted an opinion yet.
This is an announcement and coordination thread for the protest in September. If you have an alternative point of view, you'd be welcome to post it in an appropriate forum, but as Kelly pointed out, the intention of this thread was to assist in coordinating those who are attending, not discuss or debate the new legislation. We got a bit carried away...
Try the search - I think I've contributed to at least two other threads on this topic today. I'm sure you'll find somewhere to have your say.

Yes please read the earlier posts. Any further debate will be removed without warning. This is a co-ordination and organisation thread for those who are passionate about supporting this issue, I don't want a messy thread. Please feel free to start one somewhere else if you wish to discuss this further. I wont ask again. End of.

I am not going to argue that or anything, I didn't write my post properly and maybe it was stupid of me to ask, but I promise you I have no intention of arguing with anything, sorry for the confusion. And sorry for the way I am writing my posts, I am having one of those days where I know what I am saying but I can't seem to word it properly
Edit: Sorry BellyBelly, I had started this post before I saw yours, I am not going to argue or make anything messy, cannot apologise enough

Hannah, you've only made 3 posts - it takes a while to get into the forum groove and within that time, you're bound to step on some toes, so don't stress
Just written emails to Roxon, 2 Greens MP's and my local Federal MP. FWIW. Letting them know I'd be in the crowd - not cos they know me, but to let them know I'm an email writer AND an attendee at the rally
I can feel the momentum building!

I will be coming for the day with a friend... we are looking at an 8.30am flight out of Melbourne and a 5pm flight out of Canberra. Any ideas for getting from Canberra airport to parliment house economically and quickly? Many thanks, Michelle

Just a suggestion but would someone who lives in Canberra set up a sign or something outside the airport as a meeting place for anyone associated with BB so they can meet at that point and cab share... Or to identify other BB members we could take a balloon and blow it up once we are off our planes and carry it to attract other BB members attention.. (sounding a little complicated or dorky???)

There's a bus route on weekdays from the airport to the city Google Canberrra public transport - seems to be a good system...except that on weekends there's no bus from the airport to anywhere!! Typical public servants |

not sure what is cheap in canberra
there are a few cheap places here in YASS with self contained units etc... some are not so nice looking. canberra is pricey from what ive seen so depends what you want to dish out.
i would be happy to meet a group at the airport etc however i am part of the breakfast group so depends...

I got a good 4 star hotel rate through CFA corporate rates - $156 for a twin room at Rydges on Capital Hill, so split between 2 of us it's not a lot. The other (non corporate) prices I saw for 4 stars were about $200+ for a night, so something like a motel (Formula 1?) should be a lot cheaper and still be clean I looked up both sets of prices to see just how much benefit it would be to use the CFA member thingy, as once I went to book into a Best Western and they had a far better deal for just walking in!
Anyway, a normal motel like a Best Western shouldn't cost too much and I love them because they ARE clean.

Ok, I'm going to jot this down in my diary.... and see if I can come along... no promises yet. I would most likely fly up so would like to travel with other BB members... I'll check out the VIC thread now.
