Question Childrens panadol?

Hi

Hope someone can shed some light on this question please. My little one has his 6 week jabs today (they are being done early becuase of the amount of whooping cough about) Dr suggested that if there was a reaction (which there wasnt TG) to use some Childrens Panadol?

I went and got some and when i got home checked packet to see what does I should give him if needed. The measurements were for X ml for children between 4-6 kg Y ml for children between 6 - ? Kg and that it was not to be given to children under the age of 1 month. My little fella is six weeks (today ) but only weighs 3.54kg - does this mean i can't give him Childrens panadol?

Any advice would be great. Don't need to give him any but need to know in case I do moving forward.

Cheers

You could do the maths and figure out how many ml it is per kg then give that if you need to.
Maybe you could ring the poisons information center.

I would get advice from a health line or something first. Good luck. Is it 1300 health or something you could try?

you need to work on weight to paracetamol mg/ml ratio, so if you do use it you will need to work out the percentage of the minimum weight he is and use that percentage of the ml given for the base weight...does that make sense?

This is REALLY important to ge thte right dosage with panadol - it IS nasty deadly stuff. Toxicity of panadol is worked out on gm/mg/ml.

If yu are unseure of the dosage do not give it. If he has had no reaction then you do not need it. In fact, unless he has a severe fever you do not need panadol at all.
