Charlie has always been the same as in, put him in bed (bed or cot), say goodnight, walk out & he's off to sleep no worries. The only time he did as you have described was because he just wasn't ready to sleep, good be an age thing. He's only done it a couple times & it was easier to get him out & let him play another 15mins & he would go off no worries............just wasn't ready at that time. Sorry, don't know if that helps.
